Huge news on the rapid tests rolling out in huge numbers quickly.
Actually, it appears he paid $1 million in 2016, and $4.2 million in 2017, and that information is buried in the story somewhere. The “$750” is one specific payment he made, that is reported as if it is the ONLY payment he made.
Speculation now is that the NytIMES did not have his “tax returns”, but only had records of money Trump SENT to the treasury, and then had to dig up automated transfers. In that theory, the $750 is checks he wrote , I wonder what for since it was the same amount each year.

Rapidity is very important to stop outbreaks for obvious reasons.
IIRC this Abbott test is very accurate and specific. More so than is needed for public health purposes.
And to get the economy moving, no waiting to get back to work for days or weeks, take a test, have a cup of coffee, get results. This is HUGE, especially on this scale.

And the rapid tests make schools a place for surveillance testing of a community so outbreaks can be found and addressed much more quickly.
Frankly, without this testing schools would just be another path for the virus to spread.
With the testing schools instead become a place for the virus to be stopped.

A friend’s son works with a guy who was exhibiting virus symptoms. They both were tested, and the results were negative. The man was still experiencing symptoms. Both men had the test a second time; both tested negative again. When the coworker’s symptoms got even worse, he was tested a third time, and the test came back positive. My friend’s son then had to be tested as well, and the test results took over a week to get back, and he tested positive as well. My friend has three sons who are all married with kids. They all go on vacation together once a year during the summer. They were afraid that the one son wouldn’t be able to go because he’d eventually tested positive, but because the test result had taken so long, his doctor cleared him to vacation with the family, since he was already past the infectious stage. He’d had no symptoms at all, and no one contracted the virus, or if they did, they never knew it.
My understand is, it’s for what he owed when he filed his taxes at the end of the tax year after paying his estimated taxes each quarter prior.

I agree a “Tax carry forward” means on next years books but a place holder in the whole nature of the P&L
