Mad You Can’t Find Ammo? Don’t Blame The ‘Bullet’ Factories.

Last year Vista Outdoors paid $81.4 million for Remington’s ammo business, after the Remington Outdoor Company – the nation’s oldest firearms manufacturer – filed for bankruptcy. Part of the acquisition of the Remington brand included the 750,000 square foot of manufacturing space on 1,200 acres in Lonoke.

The facility in Lonoke now employs a little more than 1,000 people, and has been looking to even hire hundreds more. To keep the lines running, the plant has implemented a social-distancing protocol, which includes staggered break times to reduce crowd size. Additionally, a full-time nurse is at the site to ensure that the company is following all protocols and conducting best practices.

There is plenty of ammo out there, but it is still pricey.

When they went bankrupt, Remington fired all the long-time employees with years of experience (and high wages) at making ammo and hired back low wage “temps” who had zero experience at making ammunition and the result is low quality, low quantity ammo. One box of new .30-06 Remington ammo had 13 cases with split necks.

P.S. Call and ask when ship date will be if you order today. Some places will take your order and only after you paid do you find out that the expected ship date is 4-6 weeks.

I'm finding all the 9mm I want at about 40 cents a round, and 5.56mm at around 70 cents.

However, that's still way higher than two years ago, when 9mm range ammo went for $10 a box (20 cents a round) and 5.56 went for $6 a box (30 cents a round.)

Yep, I remember that, bought a couple of boxes for $20.25 total and gave the guy a 20 because that's all I had and told him I run to the car for a quarter, he said don't worry about it..

The article would have us “blame” COVID. But it seems to be that their RINO governor has more to do with the particular manufacturing plant in question. In fact, the article seems to be a “diversion”.

I just got 500 rounds of remanufactured 9 mm from Freedom Munitions for 37 cents around and free shipping

When you buy from a good reliable source like Freedom Munitions remanufactured Target ammo is just as good as new

Two things that individual states need to do ASAP.

1) Create their own arms and ammo manufacturers, to operate and sell in state, weapons and ammo “for in state use only”. Trying as much as possible to get raw materials in state as well. Eventually this may preclude all sorts of federal involvement and interference.

2) Create their own mint to produce gold and silver coins of high purity, with a face value reflecting only the price of the metal plus a guaranteed currency value. For example, right now, gold is less than $2000/oz, so the *currency* price of the coin, in state, should $3000/1 oz coin, for example. Of course, most coins would be for fractions of an ounce.

Silver is currently less than $25/oz, so a state minted silver coin should be worth $50/1 oz coin. States should also have a clause that its face value is guaranteed by the state *plus* the add on value to equal the US currency; to avoid the federals looting the states coins from its citizens.

So 13 out of 20 rounds had split case necks ?!?!?!

Did You purchase the Ammo or who did ?

I would hope that Remington replaced them with multiple boxes of good Ammo, a refund and a letter of apology.

I’m glad to know that You saw the problem before using any of those rounds.

Yep, right out of the box. I saw a review on a gun review site. Don’t remember which one, though.
