If you think there is a chip shortage now… wait until China seizes Taiwan!

Taiwan and South Korea together account for about 43% of semiconductor production capacity worldwide.

https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Tech/Semiconductors/The-490bn-question-Can-the-world-afford-its-Taiwan-chip-dependence

Sadly, Intel, AMD and others shipped their mfg overseas a long time ago.

Just In Time inventory... Gotta love it. Companies got used to not having a bunch of capital tied up in inventory... And here we are.

Blame legal marijuana for the truck driver shortage…you can’t pass a drug test if you used pot.

The biggest issue is the federal government pays people NOT to work. As usual, whenever the government gets involved in anything it’s FUBAR.

Do you mean that they are hard hit because they cannot secure transport enough to fulfill existing contracts, thus freeing them to produce more chips to sell at the higher prices?

Never bought a new car, but my daughter just bought some Chinese piece of crap that I tried to drive, but I cannot figure out what is happening with the car constantly talking to me and video screens trying to alarm me with its 360 degree coverage. It does not use a key, and I still don’t quite understand how to shut down the engine.

Due to online reviews and advice from others I'm avoiding eating out unless it's a local single location business that's family run or has a great rep for maintaining high standards no matter what. The chain eateries are a total mess and have gone downhill - badly cooked food, menu items not available due to supply chain issues and substitutions made without asking the customer. People using the drive thrus or the "no contact" curbside delivery have been getting burned hard by that, along with not being ready on time. Indoor dining not any better, has long wait times, bad service by green staff that don't know their jobs many of which don't seem to care if your food is messed up, along with some scary food handling practices. Nope, don't want to run that gauntlet.

I'll add that the school districts are having cafeteria problems - they can't plan out long term menus due to supply issues, so they try to go week by week but still either cannot offer something because they run out and can't resupply or have to substitute with what they have on hand until they run out of it too. Wonder how long until we have Iron Curtain-style bread lines. Welcome to the 3rd world, ya'll.

Truck traffic started going up in the daytime when Obama was President. They had tightened the sleep and down time versus driving time rules. Before that truckers would travel at night when there were fewer cars in the way. DOT rules made that impossible and gps tracking and computer based mileage logs make it hard to cheat.

Of course they will intensify. That’s the plan. If you haven’t stockpiled by now run out and do so. If our govt will turn 7 bus loads of American women away from the airport to the mercies of the Taliban and abandon our service dogs trapped in their crates on tarmac at Kabul airport why wonder if they will let us all starve to death.

“This is all being done intentionally to destroy the nation and economy“

It is indeed!

Supply chains, especially here in the 21st century is not rocket science.
We’ve absolutely mastered it in the recent past.

It took GOVERNMENT to screw things up and to KEEP them screwed up.

They need us to feel HEAT, folks.
THIS is what our government has become now. It’s not about representing us anymore.

It’s all about THEIR enrichment and OUR enslavement.

“At this point, it is being reported that finding new truck drivers to hire in this country is ‘next to impossible...’”

Locally, we’re having a HUGE problem with getting school bus drivers. I’m sure we’re not alone. They’ve altered school hours to accommodate for the lack of drivers.

So, no school for the kids for the past 18 months or so, and now LESS school for them now due to lack of bus drivers.

This plan to dumb down the citizenry even more is working out better than planned!

P.S. Maybe stop PAYING people to NOT work? Think THAT might help? But, no one ever asks me...

Prepper Ping - Supply Chain breakdown, shipping problems, and Truck Driver shortage (distribution).

" ..the process of moving products across our oceans has become insanely expensive and is often plagued by horrendous delays,
and a lack of truck drivers is causing enormous headaches when it comes to transporting goods to retailers and consumers in a timely manner.
We have never seen anything like this before, and at this point even CNN is admitting that “the disruption to global supply chains is getting worse”…

"The vast network of ports, container vessels and trucking companies that moves goods around the world is badly tangled, and the cost of shipping is skyrocketing.
That’s troubling news for retailers and holiday shoppers.
More than 18 months into the pandemic, the disruption to global supply chains is getting worse, spurring shortages of consumer products
and making it more expensive for companies to ship goods where they’re needed."

"But now we are facing empty shelves, shortages and major headaches in the months ahead.
One shipping executive that was interviewed by CNN says that things won’t get any better until “the first quarter of 2022 at the earliest”…

immadashell :" Biden’s and his commie cronies’ fault."

The covid-19 was exported from Communist China.
Many manufacturing companies rely on cheaper parts coming from China,
and now find that long-distance transport isn't quite as reliable, or economical as local sourced manufacturing.
We should have already learned of the economic impact of dependence on foreign manufacture of electronic chips, as well as pharmaceuticals,
especially when China threatened a production 'slow down' over a year ago.
Now , with the covid infections, we have that production and transport slow down,
as well as with local distribution (truck drivers).

Fine compared to when? Here in Northern Michigan, the railways are decimated, turned into bike and hiking trails. Trucking jobs are a tool of big labor. Railways were how real freight got moved. They’re vanishing, and trucks are everywhere.

A “ruined” Christmas because of supply chain shortage tells me people are celebrating it for the wrong reasons.

And you can’t get shakes or bottled drinks at McD’s?????

The horror.

There are people in this world starving to death and the first world snowflakes’ biggest problem is lack of shakes at McDonalds???

More and more I am becoming convinced that what this world needs to wake it up is a major catastrophe that causes people to need to focus on just plain survival.

These first world problems people are whining about just sicken me.
