Don’t they have an obligation to fill contracts first?
There are noticeable price increases in computer chips, probably 20 - 25%.
Try buying a new car lately?
Same issues.
It was a miracle from God that we got one at the price we willing to pay. Some dealers are going $10k over the sticker price.
I can’t get the following:
Lunchables. Not for me, but Hey, the kids love em.
Diet Dr. Pepper.
Chicken. Can’t get any of the bigger packs of cheap frozen chicken pieces.
Turkey. There’s always a few, but lately the freezer at my local stores are empty.
Eggplant. The few I can find look like they’ve been around the world. Grey/brown shriveled calyxes.
My rx medication has a nationwide shortage. I’ve been moved to a comparable Med. But still.
Low-end workers have discovered that they are in the driver's seat. Business managers/owners will put up with them coming in whenever they feel like it, as long as they can get a day or two per week out of them. They figure it's better than not having those workers at all.
A few hours later, the maintenance boss for a company that refurbishes engines came in, and told me the same thing happens at his company too.
This is unsustainable.
In that process now. It insane! Dealers have sparse inventory and refuse to negotiate and then they tack on dealer packages that you normally would avoid like the plague, the kind with a 100% dealer profit. Take it or take a hike. Some might call it supply and demand. Others call it slimy profiteering.
I think you need to talk to somebody. Really.
I have seen that in several restaurants in the Cleveland area. Where are the workers? Pay is going up and up, but they are not to be found.
Sorry but freight rail system is doing fine. They are being held back by the lack of workers at the docks and truckers to transfer goods.
Dementia Joe is in charge.
Just don’t wake him up.
Biden’s up food stamps by 25% and he’s paying people a monthly amount PER CHILD... Why work when you can sit home and have more babies...
“Could you imagine going into a McDonald’s and not being able to order a milkshake?”
More shocking when you can. lol Some guy even did research on YT about the milkshake machine problem at McD’s.

Wouldn't make any difference. The truck driver shortage was with us long before Covid and was getting worse and worse long before Covid. Nobody wants to be away from home for weeks at a time for crappy pay.
Where I live Taco Bell is the only place with dine-in service. Every other fast food place has closed its lobby due to lack of workers.
Imagine if the governments around the world stopped paying people to stay home. People would actually have to work and support themselves. This crap would be turned around within a month if that happened. But leftists are either just clueless morons or the planners of this are evil and it’s all going according to their plans.
Is there a statistic for actual truck miles driven in the US each year?
I ask because truck traffic on the Interstate highways in my region has been going up for many years, by my observation. (RV traffic & big campers, too, but that’s not relevant here.) It dipped in March - June 2020 due to Covid, but seemed back to normal by late summer, and has been very busy in 2021. Maybe that’s regional — it’d be interesting to see national numbers or numbers by state or region.
That said, Covid mandates affecting truck stops have to be particularly damaging. I can easily see such convincing drivers to hang it up.
No way can my family afford a new car, even at pre-Covid prices. But we need something as we had our 2nd car totaled last month by a distracted (or just plain unobservant!) driver who pulled out in front of my wife from a side road onto a 65 mph dual lane hwy. Luckily the safety stuff worked well, and no one was severely injured.
So I’m hunting for something similar, used, and the prices have jumped 40, 50%. We got a decent settlement on the old car (given what we paid for it) but that always comes up short, and, now these increases? Egad!
(Not that a whole lot of others are still in production.)
The power steering on my 4 year old truck with 43000 miles went out recently. I took it in on Monday about noon, figured they would look at on Tuesday, order part over night, fix Wednesday, Thursday at the latest. I didn’t get the truck back until Friday...the following week. Due to manpower shortages, they didn’t even look at it until Thursday, ordered the part (with a three day delivery) on Friday. The service adviser told me I was lucky to get the part. He said they had vehicles needing parts that had been back ordered for weeks. Weird stuff going on these days.
“The truck driver shortage was with us long before Covid and was getting worse and worse long before Covid. Nobody wants to be away from home for weeks at a time for crappy pay.”
Change in the rules is what started the decline in capacity. Covid just made it worse with the increased demand.
