Runnings and a local grocery store are cutting their hours back, now closing at 8 starting after Labor Day weekend.
my hubby says no more tuna fish and no more peanut butter....but its on sale and I’m getting it even if I have to store it under the bed....somebody down the line will need it....family or friend of neighbor...
asked hubby to make sure we have enough bar oil for the chain saws for a few yrs.
...enough motor oil for the vehicles?....does he have enough contac solution?
wind shield wiper fluid?...
there's all kinds of things non food that we need to think about.
we’re going to have to pay them a ton more money.
I can’t read any more of these articles about shortages.
I’m buying stuff, canning, making plans, etc, as fast as I can. It’s wearing me out!
I am not trying to be an alarmist, so just define your priorities,
and do what you are able to comfortably handle.
Prepping is just a life-style, should be habit forming,
and it's not a sprint to absolute total security.
Just do what you can comfortably do; that is why it starts with defining priorities.
My only reason to present this article is to inform that it looks like we may have a year of supply chain distribution issues (Spring of '22).
I know, I wasn’t meaning to give you a hard time. I was being somewhat facetious. Every time I do read one of these articles I have to go over my plan to see if I have enough stuff. Of course the answer is always no, there’s always at least one more thing.:-)
The a$$holes that run these "understaffed" places simply refuse to raise wages to get employees to work. F them.
Thank your local Free Traitor.
That is wrong. But it is also wrong not to raise wages to beat that govt. interference in the labor market. A pox on all parties.
What you see as sad I see as a blessing!!! Bring it back. What an economic opportunity!!!!
Imagine employers fighting back and raising wages to get people to work??? Imagine that!!!
Fixed it.
Bring the supply chain back to the USA.

There will be some months/years before things get back to like
there were in the past. People are learning that family life is
to be enjoyed and part of that is meal time. Now they still may
go to the restaurant and get the food but it will be brought home.
Are you feeling OK? I’m sure if that was the problem, they’d be doing that. Instead of trying to survive in the face of overt government oppression. You do know that most of America works for small businesses, right?
I wouldn’t stress too much. You’re way ahead of 99% of the population and keep in mind, the S has been about to HTF since the Cold War.
So it appears you need a lesson on the laws of supply and demand. There is never a worker shortage, only a wage shortage.
Most people don't work for small businesses. Almost half are sole proprietorships and a majority of SB's fail anyway.
We were beginning to get back to “normal”...
My company does decorated apparel - screen printing, embroidery, etc.
Not only were we shut down as “non-essential” but most of our clients - schools, events, restaurants, bars, etc. - were shut down as well.
When things started opening up, we started getting busy. So busy that we needed more employees, but even when offering 50% more than we paid pre-COVID, we could not get people to work.
Now, within the past week, inventory levels of blank clothing have plummeted. Right now, you cannot buy in bulk basic white t-shirts in sizes Medium and Large. Just about every color has at least one size that is out of stock. Worse, instead of the typical two week wait for re-stocking, they are saying that they will not have more shirts until November or December.
Nike apparel is 90% out of stock.
About 2/3’s of the cap styles are out of stock.
I have been in the industry since 1987 and have never seen it this bad.
