Over 115 earthquakes recorded in the south of La Palma – Something really scary is brewing! Its the location where a landslide could trigger a devastating tsunami

Seismic activity is slowly moving towards the southern part of La Palma. This is where a giant landslide could trigger a devastating tsunami.

Within the last 2 days, more than 115 earthquakes have been located in the southern area of the island of La Palma. Twelve of them were felt by the population and even four reaching an intensity III-IV in the epicentral zones. The largest earthquake, a M3.7, occurred at 19:14 UTC yesterday evening.

Something big is brewing! This guy even suggests a new volcano could soon start erupting on the southern part of the island… Terrifying, no?

As in previous days, the depths of the hypocenters are between 10-15 km with the exception of 6 earthquakes that hit at greater depths (30-36 km). This new swarm rattles the same area as the seismic series in 2017, 2018 and 2020.

The mean amplitude of the volcanic tremor has presented has presented different pulses in the last two days, coinciding with the moments in which the activity on the surface intensified.

The column height measured at 5:30 UTC is 4,500 m, a similar value on the previous days.

The Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma is now erupting even more aggressively after weeks of gushing lava, Spain’s Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) said Sunday.

Lava from the La Palma volcano has reportedly increased the size of the island on the western shore by 30 hectares. Streams of lava have been spilling into the Atlantic Ocean following the eruption.

The volcano’s activity “continues to be intense” and a new crater was discovered Saturday, the Canary Islands government and IGN said in a joint statement.

I’m just saying he’s not a journalist, he’s a blogger, so don’t hold him to journalistic standards. On the other hand there’s Tracy Beanz of UncoverDC a blogger that holds herself to to a very high journalistic standard. Check her out I think you’d like her stuff and also Sharyll Atkinson at Full Measure.

Could be.

I’ve always believed America would be weakened and removed as a super power prior to the prophetic 7 year tribulation and the rapture of the church. We are seeing that come to pass.

I’ve heard many thesis regarding America’s future during end times. Both, her fall as well as her dominance.

If America is weakened to the degree she will likely see, I don’t think she will have the influence any longer that she once had. However, her actions of late will continue to have devastating consequences.

The Babylonian reference is perhaps more likely to play a role in end times, if she lasts that long.

Could America be a hidden end time player however, given the location and creation of the U.N.? Could that play a major role in the revived Roman empires power? Global dominance?

We know who the religious harlot is and where she sits, atop the seven hills. And Revelations tells us she has many daughters.

Just thinking outloud.

Where on this map is the fracture zone that might develop into a landslide? There was a TV episode some years ago (I think CSI Miami) in which a 20 foot tsunami hit the city. Is that the height tsunami which is officially predicted for a serious landslide? I am probably going to be in Chincoteague, VA soon for a week. Any idea of how high a tsunami might be predicted for that location. I guess it is farther away than FL so might have a lower wave height. How long would it take for the tsunami to cross the Atlantic? Also, unlike Ocean City, MD, Chincoteague is behind Assteague Island which would blunt the impact. Nevertheless the place where I will be is probably only 4 feet above mean high water. If the landslide happened on the east side of the island would that reduce the impact on US shores?

Regarding Krakatoa, its explosion caused a wave at least 150 ft. high which rushed up a nearby bay. Two thousand feet is ridiculous, but a big asteroid in the Atlantic could cause such a wave. Apparently, the Krakatoa eruption did cause several feet of ocean rise around the world. The story is that Salt Water taffy in Atlantic City was caused by this flooding of the candy store/factory.

DC is far up Chesapeake Bay and then the Potomac River which is tidal along the monumental areas. There are flood gates that can be raised to protect expensive businesses and monuments. Usually taised for heavy rain flooding of the river. At such time people along the Arlington, VA waterfront put sandbags along their doors and entrances.

Well, there was salt water taffy in AC when I was a kid in the 40s and, since AC is on the East Coast, there is no way anything like a wave from Krakatoa in the Southern Pacific would get to the Atlantic coast. Krakatoa had a VEI (Volcanic Explosivity Index) of 6 ; St Helens was a VEI of 5 ; Tambora had a VEI of 7. And no, the worldwide effect was minimal, since it was a relatively small eruption. Bad Internet Story. https://www.history.com/topics/natural-disasters-and-environment/krakatoa

Any flooding would have been due to one of the numerous hurricanes that hit the Atlantic seaboard in the 30s and 40s, one of which took most of the Boardwalk and many houses out to sea - I have some pictures of that my uncle took.

##
The wave itself would be like the Latuya Bay one, created by displacement rather than subsidence.

Subsidence creates a wave from the bottom up, raising the sea by the distance of the up or down thrust and strength of the quake. That wave travels across top of the sea as a low ripple until it hits shallower water and then it pushes up into the familiar huge wave, traveling only as far as the remaining energy and land height allow. (May not be entirely accurate but close).

A displacement of a large volume of water pushes the wave up from the bottom and above the former level of the water, rising as high as the water that was displaced. The wave will travel many hundreds of MPH, taking a few hours to reach the East coast. It will lose some of the energy and height as it disperses across the body of water.

However, reaching shallows, it will rebuild and continue until inland until it hits a land height equal to its own. If it is 10 feet above sea level in will go until it hits land 10 feet above ; if its 100 feet high on reaching the shore, then it will need to hit land 100 feet above sea level. The wave in question will de[pend on the volume that is actually displaced - one estimate I saw said it could reach 300-600 feet in height ; in which case head for the mountains. NOAA used to have a video of these sorts of wave created in their wave tank. Most of the height will be directly across from the island, while Fla will have a shorter one ; since FLA is mostly flat then ... (May not be entirely accurate but close).

The crack is on the west side, running for several miles.

Think again. It would be 40 or 50 feet high and travel a mile inland.

That might be true until the front and back end of the wave catch up and pile up on the shore.

Standing wave or wave cloud, not gravity wave. Happen nearly every day there’s wind blowing and moisture in the air where I live.

No, there’s no way that a La Palma island landslide could displace a volume of water sufficient to do that… no where close to that.

You may be thinking of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami or the Japanese earthquake and tsunami that did so much damage. But those were tsunamis caused by undersea MEGAthrust earthquakes and were true monsters.

And if you’re thinking of the Lituya Bay tsunami, you’ve got the right kind of tsunami (landslide, water displacement) but the wrong kind of geographic situation. The Lituya Bay is a small fjord (about 2 miles wide by 7 miles long) and its tsunami was triggered by a landslide right in the fjord and the displaced water was concentrated in that narrow channel before spreading out into the ocean.

Any tsunami caused by a La Palma landslide would go into the open Atlantic ocean thousands of miles from our east coast. The initial height of that tsunami might he large but would its volume of water would rapidly widen and shrink in height.

See PIF’s excellent explanation above.

That is, excellent explanation of an undersea megathrust earthquake.

Think again. It would be 40 or 50 feet high and travel a mile inland.

That is the conservative estimate - initial wave will be 3,000 ft high generated when the mass equivalent of Manhattan sides into the water ; waves will be 100 feet high or more when they reach the East Coast, 9.5 minutes after the side ; people still in cities and the low lands will be among the millions to die ; at least as devastating as the massive tsunami that hit the Indian Ocean some years back. See the short video I posted above.
