They're scraping the bottom of the barrel over at
Politico. Presiding over a disaster is not a recommendation for promotion; it's like saying the captain of the Titanic (Edward Smith for history buffs) was the most recognizable ship's officer of his time. It's probably true but not for a very good reason.
Nevertheless, Butti stands to join the line of famous and powerful Secretaries of Transportation such as Claude Brinegar, William Thaddeus Coleman, and James H. Burnley IV, giants amidst the pygmies of American politics. Yeah, I had to look them up. Does anyone remember that Elizabeth Dole was Secretary of Transportation once? I didn't think so.
