the low info folks are scared to death of ‘scary looking guns’ because of all the hype the msm has put on the guns- They don’t want to address the real problem- a lack of security at schools, and unfortunately hte left have convinced folks that the guns are he problem- they are not-

i think by ‘military grade’ they mean selective fire rifles- which are very tough for civilians to actually own because of the fact that they can go full auto- I like the looks of the M-1 too- but it is a semi auto- used by the military- perhaps ‘military grade’ isn’t the term that should be used by folks when discussing the issue, as the military does use guns that civilians use too- and are perfectly legal for civilians to own- maybe instead folks like the LG should say when comparing civilian to military weapons ‘of war’ ‘Selective fire full auto military grade weapons”

I don't think anything needs to change at all without some fundamental underlying principles laid out clearly.

My first instinct is this: Anyone who is legally entitled to vote in the U.S. should be legally entitled to own a firearm.

It's really that simple. There's just no way to reconcile this idea that a normal society can ever exist when people are considered such high-risk individuals that they can't own guns, but they are permitted to live, work, and make a nuisance of themselves among normal, law-abiding Americans.

So this ultimately comes down to one harsh truth that nobody ever likes to talk about: There are probably tens of thousands of people walking around freely in the U.S. who should be imprisoned or institutionalized. Until that gets fixed, there should be as few restrictions on gun ownership as possible.

You put an armed guard in every school. Great.
Now the killers plan changes: first shots kill the guard, the next 1000 kill every last kid on the playground.

But you’re in favor of having every deranged psychotic armed as long as they can vote. Brilliant! Why not hand them out fully loaded at school when they turn 18? Training is for sissies and killing can be learned on Xbox.

I’m sure people will be flocking to the GOP to get on board with your platform. Way to finally solve the problem.

Actually, it's the other way around. I believe the correct approach to disarming deranged psychotics is to prosecute criminals -- including juveniles -- very harshly. And a disqualification from carrying firearms should be a mandatory condition of every probation or parole.

I’m sure people will be flocking to the GOP to get on board with your platform.

I'm not a Republican, so I'm not sure what this means.

The worst mass shooting incident in U.S. history took place on December 29, 1890 at the Lakota Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. There is no official body count because many of the victims were buried in mass graves, but every estimate I've seen indicates that 250-300 Lakota Sioux Indians were slaughtered that day -- many of them women and children.

This massacre was carried out by the U.S. Army.

I don't give a flaming sh!t about political considerations for our irrevocable right to defend ourselves.

Lack of enforcement had nothing to do with this latest school shooting. But fine, fill up the jails with gun law violators.

This recent shooter was known to be an angry loser with no reason to need for body armor and the weapons capable of quickly slaughtering children in a classroom. He wasn’t protecting his property, defending against an unjust government, exercising his rights, or going out to shoot hogs with his pals. He was a psychopath and he was given everything he needed for a few pieces of silver with the blessing of every pro 2A person, including you.

Sorry I mistook you for someone interested in keeping the Democrats out of power. Seems like one of the few common ideals FR is all about.

What's the legal standard for someone to be an "angry loser?"

ANSWER: There is none.

On the other hand, a look back at his juvenile record may reveal dozens of incidents that should have been prosecuted as crimes. Without that information, any conversation about his background and personality in a legal context is a futile exercise.

He was a psychopath and he was given everything he needed for a few pieces of silver with the blessing of every pro 2A person, including you.

This apparently comes as a shock to a lot of people, but unlike what you find in most countries in the world, U.S. law is built on two foundations: (1) presumed innocence, and (2) due process. In practical terms, what this means is that it is damn near impossible to deny any person of his rights until AFTER he is arrested, tried and convicted of a crime. If that bothers you, then you're probably living in the wrong country and might be happier living somewhere else.

Sorry I mistook you for someone interested in keeping the Democrats out of power.

I despise Democrats and I have no faith in Republicans. That's why I've never been registered with any political party in my life.

If you're forced to fight back against a SWAT team sent to arrest you for your political opinions you may NEED that full auto feature. A short barreled semi-auto shotgun is fine for normal home defense.
