Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg expressed his "impatience with all the complaining about high gasoline prices. The more pain we experience from the high price of gas, the more benefit there is from switching to electric vehicles. The stubborn insistence on holding onto the out-dated technology of the combustion engine makes me sick. Electric vehicles (EVs) are the obvious solution to mobility needs. People need to stop whining and get on-board with the government's efforts to motivate them to change how they travel."
The ability of many people to buy EVs is impeded by their high cost. The initial purchase price is around $60,000 for a standard model. The standard model comes with a "level 1" charger, which takes 40 hours to recharge the EV. Upgrading to a "level 2" charger, which can charge the EV in only eight hours, costs an extra $2,000. The ability to travel very far is impeded by the lack of a recharging infrastructure where an EV could pull off the freeway to a recharging station and be back on the road in just 15 minutes. How long it will take and how much it will cost to create and build this infrastructure is currently being studied, but it will be at least years and possibly cost trillions of dollars before this can be done.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky) said "EVs are far from the environmentalist panacea Secretary Buttigieg thinks they are. It would take four times as much electricity to charge the average household's cars as the average household uses on air conditioning. Today, EVs comprise less than 1% of the vehicle fleet. The Biden Administration wants to boost the EV contingent to 50% by 2030. Our power grid can't handle a 50% EV share of vehicles. On top of this, across the country there currently are 145,000 gasoline stations, but only 6,000 fast-charging EV stations. A massive new infrastructure will be required to power EVs on out-of-town trips. Whether EVs can ever be an adequate or affordable alternative for the travel needs of the average American is unknown."
Buttigieg admitted that "the current grid can't handle the switch to EVs. Just because the feasibility of EVs is unknown doesn't mean we shouldn't mandate them. America was built by people who lived in un-air-conditioned dwellings. Maybe if we outlaw air conditioning the grid would be capable of recharging the number of EVs the President wants us to have by 2030."

The Dims generate a crisis (high gas prices) so they can mandate a “solution”. I can’t stand crap like that.
Rampant aids is obviously the solution to buttplugging fags
Does Buttplug own or drive a car ? Yes go into debt and buy something no one needs or wants
People who can afford ev’s aren’t complaining about gas prices. Do liberals ever think through anything before they start pontificating?
Guess he doesn’t care about all the mining of toxic materials done by little kids in 3rd world countries. The EU is considering designating lithium as a toxic substance, and there isn’t enough of it to make all the batteries needed for all these EVs. Used batteries are expensive and will probably end up in landfills, just as the dead wind turbines are.
There are so many things wrong with EVs, it’s hard to list them all. I thought they were kinda cool until I found out they catch fire for no apparent reason.
What happens when there is a power outage and your EV is (unexpectedly) not charged? Hope you don’t live where a hurricane is about to hit.
2035: President Buttigig says walking is the obvious solution to the EV battery shortage.
You can bet that Booty-boi doesn’t drive himself, nor does he have to stand in a grocery checkout line.
What a MAROON! Besides being a sexually deviant SICK individual, he’s STUPID!
Where does the electricity for the electric vehicles come from Peter? Hmmmm? Windmills? Solar? NOT SO MUCH, JERK.
It comes from so-called fossil fuels IDIOT!
Seen a picture of a fidiot lately?
So instead of a 30000 dollar car and 3.00 gas we can have an 80000 dollar car and 2.00 gas?
I’m watching coal fired plants close like falling dominos on the Ohio River. Not to worry, I’m told those old plants are being replaced by natural gas fired plants. Thank goodness, the regime has figured out a way to ensure natural gas prices won’t increase and the price of electricity is cheap and can never go up.
What an ass clown. The obvious solution is getting rid of Democrats (and their Republican enablers) from our politics. They’ve shown themselves utterly corrupt.
They are destroying our energy sector on purpose. EVs have an extremely limited utility at best; and cannot scale to any appreciable degree. These people need to go.
Buttplug thinks the trucking industry is going to magically convert over to electric Trucks?
Pete Buttigieg is an obvious clown. If people resort to Electric Vehicles too rapidly, it would overload the existing power grid and cause a collapse that could not be rectified as fast as it occurs. At the same time, people would be trying to replace fossil feul appliences in the household to include heaters, stoves and the like. What that means is the entire power grid will have to be replaced and improved, so Biden and his green dreams are going to cause such an upheaval like we have never seen. The whole concept is stupid. It will take 30 or 40 years for the necessary improvements, and in the meantime, we will need to slowly drift away from fossil fuels somewhat. I am hoping that some politicians with enough brains are elected to achieve the transition peacefully.
Good one.......kudos.
Because they know science! Electricity comes from unicorn farts.
