Everything about the case in New York City against the Trump organization business operations is ridiculous. There are no victims. There was no fraud. All of the lenders did their own due diligence. All of the loans were paid back without issue and the statement of financial condition was factual and accurate.
Additionally, the statute being used as the predicate for the case is a consumer fraud statute, intended to protect borrowers from predatory lenders. In the four corners of this case, Trump is the borrower, and the banks were the lenders. New York is flipping the statute to claim the borrower defrauded the lenders, despite the lenders denying there was any fraud and there was no harm. The entire case is ridiculous.
The case was always ridiculous - banks choose how much to lend based off their own appraisal of the property being borrowed against.

It's not really a case, more of a Kangaroo Court.
I don't recall hearing about the banks complaining, so Trump must've made the loan payments on time.

I know! this is nuts! dont cases get dismissed all the time because there is no “standing”? where is the victim here? no victim, no crime.
This should of been thrown out on the first day, and would have been if it was ANYONE other than Trump.

Why hasn’t the judge thrown out the case?
That’s missing the point, badly. The case brought against Trump claimed he knowingly falsifying mortgage applications, which is a felony. The tricky part, and the main reason this case is weak, is they have to prove intent to defraud the lender. Trump has his valuation and while the numbers might be outrageous, they cant prove he had intent to defraud. The fact that he paid off many of these loans proves otherwise.
This case will immediately go to appeal.
In the meantime, they have slowed Trump, forced him to pay massive attorney fees, and are able to say he was found liable.
