Unfortunately the old Teddy Roosevelt quote seems applicable here:

“If you’ve got them by the ^%$#@, their hearts and minds will follow.”

“The reason is never the reason. The reason is always the Revolution”.

You can’t argue a leftist out of support for whatever cause, because he’s lying: his support of that cause is because he thinks it will advance socialism.

You have to discover the real, underlying purpose, for which the “cause of the moment” is just a means to that end.

politics is like religion,

for those ho believe, no explanation is necessary

for those who don’t, no explanation will ever be good enough...

Maybe that’s just being human. We learn solutions to life’s problems once and then reuse them every time those problems comes up.

If a solution works, then we don’t fix it and we definitely will argue with anyone who tells us otherwise … even if they’re right and we’re wrong.

I think that’s just human nature, but perhaps it’s even more innate to being human. For example, have you heard about “Original Antigenic Sin”?

From Whikipedia,

“… also known as antigenic imprinting, the Hoskins effect, or immunological imprinting, is the propensity of the immune system to preferentially use immunological memory based on a previous infection when a second slightly different version of that foreign pathogen is encountered.

This leaves the immune system "trapped" by the first response it has made to each antigen, and unable to mount potentially more effective responses during subsequent infections.”

Same thing. See a problem and use the same solution we learned the first time over and over again whether it works or not.

Whether it’s mental/emotional “transfixion” or original antigenic imprinting, apparently, being stubborn is in our DNA.

Gazans must see their entire world destroyed, with all the true believers dead, before the rump remainder might understand that they must change their ways or die.

Essentially, the symptoms of mental transfixion include complete immunity to reason and an absolute refusal to acknowledge facts, no matter how obvious, no matter how clearly explained.
