This sort of thing is going to get worse and with increasing frequency.

>More than 170 Boeing airplanes have been grounded after a refrigerator-sized hole opened up in the side of a passenger plane mid-flight.

>The Federal Aviation Administration said it would order the temporary grounding of certain Boeing 737 Max 9 airplanes after an Alaska Airlines flight was forced to perform an emergency landing on Friday following the loss of part of the fuselage.

Yikes. I wonder how many people said the heck with this and retired or retired because of Covid. The entire airline industry has shortages from pilots, ATC and supply chain issues.

Someday I’ll finish my commercial aviation article and you’ll get the whole picture.

I’ve not flown since 1991 and have steadfastly refused to since 9/11 (mostly due to tsa), but what I learned after the MAX debacle (which prompted the article) was enough to make me refuse to fly to the point of risking my livelihood.

I don’t care what the aviation cheerleaders/statisticians say: Flying commercial is Russian Roulette for reasons FAR beyond merely Boeing.

From the terminus of the post:

Guess who works for sh*t wages at Boeing subcontractors…
I'll take 'asylum seekers' for $25k, Alex.

If you are going to get really specific everything is a one off, meaningless event.

This isn’t the first technical problem with the 737max, and if you have paid attention to Boeing at all they have had a string of high profile failures.

Boeing has been making bizarre, even self-destructive decisions for a while now.

Good speculation. Boeing hasn’t been sued like SpaceX..
