mostly it's just media needing to fill up their "quota" of daily "happenings"
could you imagine what it would have been like to have this kind of coverage when the 1800s pioneers were crossing the continent to the west?
My son is in Scouts. One of the reasons is that I think this skill is so important. Ask Jeff Head about the need to train young men in survival tactics. You get lost in Idaho and that's it.
Ut oh watch out you might get the twaddle word hurled at you. I think he was ill prepared and would have been better off staying with the car. He tried to get help for his family but failed. A hero would have gotten the help. I believe the correct term for this man may be a tragic hero. This whole story is so sad and its a shame but maybe now people will be more alert to where they are going and how to be prepared for driving in unknown places. Prayers for his family.
Seems that everything that could go wrong, went wrong. A tragedy that cannot be undone.
We hope and pray that the family finds some peace and that many who think to take such trips will think about preparations for such excursions.
It's a place for some heartfelt advice and prayers for the family.
Thx, Friend! You know what we all meant!
It's so irritating after all these days to have someone come up and sanctimoniously say the "carry a flashlight in your car" cr@p!!!
Very nice summation.
Read my posts before you attack me. I CLEARLY gave advice and I have been praying for this family since day 1. As for perfect please show me where I claim to be sooooooo perfect. You can't. Because I never claimed to be nor did I deserve to get the twaddle word hurled at me . And thanks for calling me perfect, I don't hear that often. As for bragging about what I do, it makes sense to call home and tell people where you are. Prayers for the Kim family and you have a nice night now.
Surfer posted some new links with new information here...

That's not the thread of course. I will try again...
Thanks so much...Admin Mod, pls delete my thread...it has been ruined by some nasty comments. I'll let surfer's thread take over.
Surfers links were on the Big Thread. I was going to link them and messed up the formating. Giving up here..
reminds me of the things you see about kids stealing a stop sign and then someone dying as a result of running thru what was a stop.
He is dead. What does it matter whether people want to absolve him or not. He is dead. Let it rest.
If he couldn't get a consistent cell phone signal (yes there was a ping but not a consistent signal) then he probably couldn't get a signal from the GPS satellite either. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Not necessarily true. You can get a GPS signal wherever you can get a clear view of the sky, unlike cell phones which use terrestrial towers.
Any way you figure it California lost one of the very few real men it had left.
His actions were that of a man.
He stood for his family.
He earned the TITLE; of MAN
He did it as too few would these days.
Thanks, warrior...you sum it up very well....
Goths are a pain, too. I'm ok with Alans.
He worked at CNET and got everything for free. Where was his satellite phone? GPS? CB radio? Hello?
