I’ve recently become aware that there are a number of drivers out there who have depth-perception problems, and literally can’t tell how far they are from another car. It’s a brain problem rather than an eye problem, and nothing can be done about it. They’re a real menace on the road. I don’t know if that’s this lady’s problem, but I dread being hit by one of them some day!

There’s GOTTA be an Obama sticker on her car.

I recently had to go up to a Muslim woman and offer to back her car out her driveway after watching her efforts for a few minutes (my work van was in jeopardy).

For those that don’t know, addressing Muslim women always gets a strange and unpleasant reaction.

I’ve long known that about myself and so, I leave a lot of space between me and the person ahead of me. Wanna guess what happens? Some smart alec invariably pulls into the space. We’re all moving at 40 mph. How the hell much further/faster do you think you’re gonna go if you get in that little slot between me and him? Geez!

Considering the cars are mostly European, it’s not likely she was able to vote for The One (unless ACORN registered her as a voter in this country). In fact, I would narrow it down to Eastern Europe, Turkey or Greece.

It’s prevalent in some of Chicago’s neighborhoods as well. Numerous streets, with cars parked on both sides, allow 2 cars abreast to travel down one-way and two-way streets; however, many drivers drive right down the middle, fearing getting too close to cars along their passenger side, thereby forcing others to pull over or wait for them to pass. The aforementioned action then leads to more congestion, which makes neighborhood travel even worse than getting on the expressways during rush hour.

Did she let you back her car up or did she start yelling at you with anti American remarks and chanting allu akbar?

No, I did help guide her out though.

Being an open, friendly American I often make remarks to people in supermarkets and in lines and in public in general, I am learning that the Muslim women always react with shock and they sometimes even recoil before they regain composure.

Being born a Houstonian I am in the habit of making eye contact and giving friendly nods or even a hello to strangers on sidewalks and in public places (even elevators). That doesn’t go over very well with the large Muslim population here where I live in El Cajon (San Diego metro), they are a closed, suspicious type as all Middle Eastern peoples generally are.

My Ex was terrible. She had a 72’ Malibu that was crumpled down the right side from hitting light poles. I never put my arm on the window sill when riding with her. One night as she was leaving the house (we lived down a narrow country road bordering a creek) I saw her lights rolling over and over. She had driven into the creek and was resting upside down in the water. Thankfully it was a shallow creek. We got her a smaller car after that one.
