Computer Screen Has Gone Wobbly---HELP!!!
Self | August 28, 2009 | PJ-Comix

Posted on 08/28/2009 3:15:03 PM PDT by PJ-Comix

I have an LCD flat screen computer monitor. I turned it on a little while ago and most of what I see is wobbling slightly. However, I do notice the extreme right side of the screen seems to be steady (insert political joke here).

I restarted my computer but the problem remains the same. The brightness of the screen remains the same as before so I don't think this is because the screen is somehow fading.

Anybody know how I can fix this.

Yeah, I can still read the screen but it is very annoying to do so. It is like the words are vibrating slightly. I would say the left 75% of the screen is where the problem is. Thanx in advance for any help on this.

Check if the cable has any of its pins bent.

Also check the display settings on the computer.

Lastly, most monitors have a reset feature in their on-board menus.

First You need to take it to a freinds computer or a shop computer and plug it into it to see if you get the same.

Make sure cables are still connected tightly.

any fans or motors near the screen
go into the on screen display and hunt around till you find factory reset or factory preset and activate that, it might fix it for a while
right click on the desktop and go into graphics properties or properties then settings. Make sure the refresh rate is no higher than 60 they actually last less on 75.

Check the power and VGA cords to see if they’re loose at either end.

LCDs aren’t affected by magnets like CRTs are.

Have you tried power-down, disconnect monitor from computer, reconnect to computer and restart?

It sounds like a loose connection on your monitor cable.

Try this... with the computer on as it is, GENTLY wiggle the cable very slightly (just a little pressure side to side) and see if it affects the screen. If it does, it’s probably the connection. If it does not, try the cable connection to the monitor. If neither connection is loose, it’s probably the monitor itself.

Large Hammer, heavily applied, followed by credit card usage. Get a 1080P TV and use it as your monitor.

Could be pins/connection at the monitor. Could be the cable, or either of the cable ends. Could be the computer pins/connections/vid board/driver.

You should have a dianostic button/feature with the monitor.
Run it.

Hook it up to another computer.
Try a different cable.

PJ! Have you got another monitor to try?

You may have a video board problem. Last one we had that did this had a video card that was dying.

It’s a common fault of cheaper monitors.

I tightened the cable on the monitor. No change. Should I do the same on the connection to the computer?

Check the cables (power and video) both at the monitor and at the computer.

Sometimes a loose cable can cause that.
