I recently committed automotive heresy for a car guy: I bought a Toyota Prius.

They have been pushing this for years. The reason why gas in Europe is much higher is because of the taxes.
What the “nutters” are saying is that they want a huge tax hike on gasoline.
EV mode is the stealth mode below 20 or 30mph. Try it some time — very quiet. Like riding on a cloud and a strange sensation, too.
There was one, kind of sort of, electric car.
Had a large flywheel, wound up to (I do not Remember) Many RPM.
A newer one:

I believe the Tesla Ludicrous will be hard to beat!
2.8-SECOND 0-60 SPRINT TIME

Sorry to hear that.
FR Mail on the way.
Have stick. Notice that with my car there are coupons from the manufacturer that substantially decrease the cost of the maintenance.
Don't forget the cardigan sweaters!
Seriously, I know two people who have Prius' and they both love them too. One of them has over 200,000 on theirs and still going strong, still using the original battery it came with.
Don't forget the racing stripe! Nothing makes a car faster than a racing stripe. ROFL!!
Music to my ears. Not that I'm worried.
I still prefer to eat meat.
That is a fun video!
But the Prius is truly a pavement princess.
And very good at what does.
You can own a Prius and eat some meat.
Increasing the weight of the driver will decrease the MPG.
Just as soon as the Martians that piss gasoline arrive, we can forget about MPG.
Until then???
“You can own a Prius and eat some meat.”
I guess, in theory, you are right. I just haven’t met one yet, and I do know a number of Prius owners.
Other than that, it does seem like a practical car.
I’m happy for you.
The mpg is particularly appreciated in stop-and-go traffic and waiting at those not-so-fast food drive-in places.
I sold my 2011 Prius recently, not because of the car, but thinking about battery replacement in a few years.
You are not looking at the TDI. Huge difference.
Probably nothing more that drag races. Electric cars can be fast, but pit stops would take hours.
A favorable review from car and driver.
No change.
Have you had the 40,000 mile DSG transmission oil change?
Our son has a VW TDI, similar engine/trans.
Dealer price is $800.00 to change the fluid!!!
TWO CENTS FOR EACH MILE DRIVEN!
$3.OO FUEL AND 60 MPG... FUEL COST = 5 CENTS/MILE.
Your everyday OBD scanner does not address the trans functions. So resetting, check fluid level... becomes an issue.
A replacement gearbox is $8000.00 yes 8k! And not known to be that robust.
I WISH MY KID HAD BOUGHT THE STICK SHIFT!

I’m not a fan of Toyota’s from an appearance/styling perspective as lately their cars are really quite bland and sterile looking (I really REALLY hate those big black plastic grills they put on all new Camry’s and Corolla’s) but from a mechanical perspective Toyota’s are as bullet-proof as they get. Can’t go wrong buying one.
MY guess is that to stay inside of that specification, and not spend big bucks, it will always look like a fish.
