Does the Bible Predict a Coming Polar Shift? [Isaiah 24]

While we now appear to be in a period of declining magnetic field strength, we cannot state for certain if or when a magnetic reversal will occur. Based on measurements of the Earth's magnetic field taken since about 1850 some paleomagnetists estimate that the dipole moment will decay in about 1,300 years. [...] Even if Earth's magnetic field is beginning a reversal, it would still take several thousand years to complete a reversal. We expect Earth would still have a magnetic field during a reversal, but it would be weaker than normal with multiple magnetic poles. Radio communication would deteriorate, navigation by magnetic compass would be difficult and migratory animals might have problems.

The Bible prophet Isaiah, under the influence of God, seems to have predicted that in the last days there would be a catastrophic polar shift; a geologic rapid shift in the relative position of the modern-day geographic locations of the poles and the axis of rotation of the Earth, creating calamities such as floods and tectonic events. The timing of this event? No one knows, regardless of how many books they try to sell. The purpose of this event? To judge the world because of legislated evil; abortion, baby part harvesting, homosexuality, pedophilia, no fault divorces, genocide, fatherless children, etc. It appears that there is no place to hide when this event occurs except in the one who brings this event to pass; the God of Israel, mighty to save all those who trust in Him and receive his substitutionary death for their sins (Daniel 9, Isaiah 53)

Isaiah 24:1 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty , and maketh it waste , and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof. 2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. 3 The land shall be utterly emptied , and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word. 4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away , the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish. 5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate : therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left. 7 The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh. 8 The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth , the joy of the harp ceaseth. 9 They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it. 10 The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up , that no man may come in. 11 There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone. 12 In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction. 13 When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done. 14 They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea. 15 Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea. 16 From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously ; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously. 17 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. 18 And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake. 19 The earth is utterly broken down , the earth is clean issolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. 20 The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall , and not rise again. 21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. 22 And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited. 23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.

A magnetic pole shift has nothing to do with movement of surface landmasses.

The Bible predicts everything from the beginning of the world, to the end of the world, plagues, famine, jock itch, butt hurt, how to take a dump, and whether the Royals should have lost the pennant.

You can read anything into it. BFD.

Would make an interesting study. I’ll put it on my list.

You nailed it, Old Sarge.

Leviticus 26 is a perfect example of God’s warnings about disobedience for a nation.

I disagree. The poles are a direct result of the spin of the iron/nickel core of our planet. Were this spinning mass to suddenly flip, the resulting resonance wave would cause a tidal shift of the magma surrounding it and cause a tidal bore that would then affect the plates on which we sit.

This would result in many a coffee cup being spilled.

We don't know that for sure, and it certainly doesn't mean a shift in landmass couldn't accompany a magnetic pole shift. There are many dynamic forces in play we don't even begin to understand.

I often wondered how the core of our planet could spin and NOT the exterior with it?

It not like magma and dirt create a friction-less surface to slide across

How much does the core move per day compared to the 24 hour rotation of the surface?

Its one of those things that always irked me some how...

No you can't. And that statement only demonstrates one thing.

A magnetic pole shift isn’t believed to be an extinction level event. Disruptive but not a civilization ender.

The intensity of the Earth’s magnetosphere has been dropping for decades. No abnormal shifting of landmasses has accompanied that. The Earth’s magnetic field is driven by fluid metal deep below the mantle. It does not require any kind of surface expression to shift.

Just a fraction of a second faster than the outer crust.

Core spin

Although, there is an alternate theory that the core spins in the opposite direction

Opposite spin

Though I would question that on the basis of hydrodyamic flow and tidal eddies that would seem to want to cancel out that opposite spin.

Non-sequitor. Because something slows, does not equate to landmass fractures, simply due to its relative motion/speed. Something making a rapid shift can. Consider holding a glass of water in your car and then brake slowly. The water would not spill because the deceleration rate is gradual and attenuated. Panic brake and water goes everywhere.

You’re not bothering me. Just correcting a prevalent falsehood that has no foundation built on reality. I will agree there are some who can read anything into anything, but who’s fault is that? :-)

Didn’t the Myans predict this would occur in 2012?

Maybe the catastrophe they predicted for that year was Obama’s re-election.

I’m not too concerned about a polar shift. Not anything I can do about it anyway.

Somethings to consider:

1. Magnetism depends upon a solid structure. The core could partially melt due to periods of heat build up and release.

2. The core could become out of balance.

3. The earth's crust could become out of balance.

4. Heat inside the earth could build up over time, say 100,000 years or so, and released through greatly increased volcanic activity.

5. Earth's wobble/spin procession, self-correcting, could cause major seismic activity due to changes in normal inertial experienced by plate mechanics.

6. The correlation between low sunspot activity/magnetisim and an increase in earth's seismic activity which we do not understand mechanize behind.

Just some of the dynamics we know about.

I a not certain about these issues, I just find it intriguing. Given our Biblical foundation as a society, it is interesting to read the description in Isaiah 24 which seems to describe a Polar Shift. I could be wrong, however scientist confirm that these have happened in the past. Those who claim to know are false prophets, no doubt.
