Seattle judge blocks Trump immigration order

SEATTLE/BOSTON - A federal judge in Seattle on Friday granted a nationwide temporary restraining order blocking U.S. President Donald Trump's recent action barring nationals from seven countries from entering the United States.

The judge's order represents a major challenge to the Trump administration, which is expected to immediately appeal. The judge declined to stay the order, suggesting that travel restrictions could be lifted immediately.

The challenge was brought by the state of Washington and later joined by the state of Minnesota. The Seattle judge ruled that the states have legal standing to sue, which could help Democratic attorneys general take on Trump in court on issues beyond immigration.

"It's a wonderful day for the rule of law in this country," said Washington state solicitor general Noah Purcell.

The decision came on a day that attorneys from four states were in courts challenging Trump's executive order. Trump's administration justified the action on national security grounds, but opponents labeled it an unconstitutional order targeting people based on religious beliefs.

Earlier on Friday, a federal judge in Boston on Friday declined to extend a temporary restraining order that allowed some immigrants into the United States from certain countries despite being barred by U.S. President Donald Trump's recent executive order.

Also on Friday in Virginia, a federal judge ordered the White House to provide a list of all people stopped from entering the United States by the travel ban.

The State Department said on Friday that fewer than 60,000 visas previously issued to citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen had been invalidated as a result of the order. That disclosure followed media reports that government lawyers were citing a figure of 100,000.

The DHS will follow this court order until overturned. Same way Obama was stopped with his extended DACA EO.

It will be ignored. A Seattle judge doesn’t set our immigration policy.

“Judge Robart was appointed by George W. Bush.”

So, by his ruling I guess that it is safe to assume that Judge Robart has a whole bunch of these refugees staying in his house with him. Right? RIGHT??????

One federal district judge issued the injunction that blocked Obama’s expanded amnesty EO nationwide. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

I saw that too. This means that any judicial action here is completely pointless. The seattle judge should be ignored.

.... I think it's safe to say that this is the beginning of a trend. The Liberal activists are attempting to rule by the bench in a system of Government ruled by Judges.

.... They are ignoring Federal Laws .... The system is breaking down .... We are possible entering the final stages of the Cloward/Piven Strategy where the system is purposely overwhelmed and scuttled to the point of collapse then finally institute a Socialist Government as it's replacement.

... Shucks ... And the whole movement is being bankrolled by George Soros.

Yea, why not use my quotes? It’s a dumb argument. I don’t even know how anyone can enforce this. If the U.S cuts off diplomatic ties with Yemen (as an example) can a judge order him to stop that too? It doesn’t even make sense. They can refuse people entry out of suspicions and they can just say to everyone who comes from the 7 countries (sorry, suspicious). Prove they were not. This is for talking heads and that’s it

I wonder how whole hearted the defense of the EO by the US Attorney’s office in Seattle actually was.

Obama declared a bunch of illegals legal so...This is why writing laws in a courtroom is dumb. Trump needs to kill DACA too and tell congress that if they want to legalize them then pass a law. Stop being nice and “compassionate” about it

Surprising how a Seattle judge can find the time for this, considering how much time the spend importuning people in public lavatories.

This means as of this point anyone from those countries can enter.

I hope they blow up Seattle first.

We need kharmic justice. The judge runs into a Muslim terrorist who he just admitted and nature takes its course.

Trump should just ignore this court order and tell the DHS to continue the temporary ban as instructed! What is this judge going to do besides stamp his feet if Trump ignores his ruling? Judge has zero enforcement power over the executive branch - ask Chief Justice Marshall if you don’t believe me, LOL!!

A federal judge in Seattle ruled today that we don’t have a country anymore.

Kinda begs the question, why do we even have a President?

*************

Shows what these elitist, power hungry judges think of the will of the people.

The challenge was brought by the state of Washington and later joined by the state of Minnesota.

Now I'm confused. I thought states don't have a say on immigration enforcement or policy? Oh, that's only when they oppose a Democrat president.
