FULL TITLE: Couple share horrific photo of an elderly patient collapsed on the floor at a VA hospital waiting room in North Carolina

Disturbing photos taken inside a Veterans Administration hospital have emerged on social media showing an elderly patient laying on the floor and another apparently doubled over with pain in a wheelchair.

The unsettling images were taken by former US Marine Stephen McMenamin and his wife, Hanna, and posted on Facebook.

The shocking images sparked fury online and triggered an internal investigation at the hospital in Durham, North Carolina.

The head of the medical center says an employee involved in Friday's incident has been removed from patient care pending the results of the internal review.

Mr McMenamin arrived at the hospital with his wife on Friday seeking treatment for severe lower back pain and claimed to have witnessed two veterans who were struggling in the waiting room.

Of course had they been rapefugees they would have been given the best medical care.

If Obama was still president, the person who took the picture would be up on federal charges.

It took a foreign newspaper to write about the incident.

looks like most of them have just been waiting a long time, and the guy on the floor probably had to stretch his back...laying down is sometimes the only relief...

NOBODY has to go to the VA....if you are deathly sick or injured EVERY SINGLE ER in the country must take you in....

if you know your local VA stinks, don't go there....

not defending the VA at all....the VA stinks for most vets...

its been very good to my brother with Agent Orange induced Parkinsons though...

This is what happens when we put responsibility for our health in the hands of the government. This is what the Democrats want for all of us.

Drugs are free or low cost at the V.A. depending on what category of veteran you are and you get them right there. Most emergency rooms don’t dispense prescriptions and it is up to the patient to pay for them at the drug store. See the difference?

The couple offered their recliner, and the bitch made him get out of it, even though no one else was using it. She needs to be fired.

My husband has had great luck with VA through a local clinic, but some of the big hospitals need to drain the swamp. What protects the lazy inefficient workers? Is it the Union?

That's true but they are not that low cost if you are a vet with 2 years service, non-combatant: a flat $8.00 for a 30-day supply of a generic drug.

Thanks to the Marine that took the photos- maybe he should have also called the local Durham 911.

That’s what I was paying for EACH of my two blood pressure meds- after I decided to try my luck with Humana, I got them free.

The VA emergency room in Houston dispenses meds.

This is government run health care. Probably every government run health care system on the planet is this way or worse.

Just ask the British, who have resorted to pulling their own abscessed teeth with pliers because they can’t get an appointment with a British government dentist. Can you imagine how much pain you must be in to resort to this? Ouch!

Or the Canadians who have to travel to the US for life saving medical tests because the waiting list for these procedures in Canada is months.

And these are the health care systems that Liberals BRAG about & yearn for.

Regarding the VA, I am tempted to call for an end of the VA health care system & refer Veterans to private physicians, with the Feds picking up the tab. But that could mirror Medicaid, which limits treatments & physician reimbursements - a poor system for Vets, who deserve better.

VA under disability pulled the 5 bad teeth hubby had, they charged a full month for 5 pills of antibiotics. He has Medicare and Tricare Life. 20 yr career Navy. Our private dentist was contracted to make the dentures.

Does not matter if it is private or not 5 pills is a full month’s co-pay for any drug.

Tricare Life for over 65 DoD Mandated you use Military base for scripts which are FREE. Or Express Scripts...FRAUD PRONE, shoves your scripts in your mail box NO ID Sign for. Charges you 1 month for 3 months of scripts. NO NARCOTICS. Base narcotics are monthly and if for chronic pain it must say so. Otherwise it’s a 2 week supply.
