A crew of five astronomers from Belgium have discovered an exceptional planetary system and surprisingly it has got the name of their favorite beer.
The planetary system has been christened TRAPPIST-1 by the astronomers after The Transiting Planets and Planetesimals Small Telescope or TRAPPIST. It is an arrangement of seven planets just 40 light-years away, surrounding a dwarf star.
The sizes of the planets are almost similar to that of the Earth. Three of the seven planets are in the liveable area of the star to ensure that they can reinforce liquid water in the external zone and support life.
Each exoplanet also received a nickname given by the team after conventional Trappist beers, such as Orval, Westvleteren and Rochefort, some of which have been fermented for hundred years.

Not Spain’s Mahou?
I would have hoped for Amstel or Stella (Artois)
Named it after a beer? Now people will make fun of them. Should have kept their Silence.
Please, please, please, Anheuser-Busch/IBG has plenty of money, they don’t need to have astronomical entities named after their brands.
Call it “TRUM”!!
Excuse me.CALL IT “TRUMP”!!
Sulu: “Entering the Trappist system, captain. Slowing to impulse.”
McCoy: “About damn time! Y’ know how hard it is to get a good lambic ale out here?”
Spock: “Patience, Doctor. We will be in orbit shortly.”
McCoy: “Patience, hell!”
Kirk: “Easy, Bones! Tell you what, When we get there, I’ll buy the first round.”
Excellent. Lifting one to the astronomers, or would if I drank beer.
Dwarf system? Seven planets? Sounds dopey!
Those remote observatories can be a lonely place ;-)
Read a beer book that said that Belgium is the “Disneyland of Beers”. Trappist isn’t a bad choice. (I’m partial to a red sour Belgian brew—but that would be a lousy name).
That one closest to that star - Corona.
I’ll drink to that.
Eventually, you run out of deities to name things after.
McCoy: "You bet your pointed ears I am!"
