With all the joy and drama of those tumultuous days last November, somehow this little song parody of Gordon Lightfoot's 1970s hit "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" escaped my attention but it deserves a look-see.
FReepers will no doubt understand the lyrics. The sound and video quality are a bit subpar but, lyrically, it's a solid work.

Enjoy!
Here's an embellished version of the classic song for anyone not familiar with it:

Let the Clinton parody be a reminder of what ALMOST snuck back into the White House again after eight years of corruption and scandals. Regardless of what one thinks of the Trump presidency, I always compare it with the disgrace we perilously avoided last November. Let FReepers always remember the true disaster we narrowly avoided.
Good one! Thanks for sharing. (Although I will now have the song stuck in my head all day....)
It’s such a haunting song about a true event that it draws the listener in.
As I type this, I’m looking at a painting of the Fitz just as the rogue wave hits it.
Great song. Added to my collection and sent out for others to hear. 8>)
Nicely done lyrics!

Very nice parody.
Anyone who has followed the Clintons since they first slithered into national politics understands immediately every reference in the song.
No one who is a fan of the Clintons will get any of it.

True that. And the guy sounds just like Gordon Lightfoot. But early in the song he implies that Webb Hubbel is dead. Webb Hubbel is not dead.
That’s great, thanks for posting
The Clintons, it’s said, never give up their dead.
Much has been written about the cause of the split.
Some believe she “shoaled” just south of Isle Royal and this cause water intrusion.
I noticed that too. Hubbell is still alive and writing mystery novels after his release from prison. He’s only 69 years old (I say “only” because the Clinton presidency is now two decades ago).
Also you missed my favorite Hillary line in the song just waiting to be used: 'Twas the Witch of November come stealing. But then I had a tagline referring to her as the stealing Witch of November.
The Sinking of the Fitz is a popular topic in Minnesota, even after all these years. And especially on the North Shore. Heck, it’s practically a cottage industry up there.

I wonder if he is allowed to visit his grandchildren Charlotte and Aidan (Chelsea’s kids).
You have to wonder how much would not have been written if Gordon had not written his song and it becoming such a hit. It sparked an interest in the tragedy that many would not have heard about otherwise. I had never heard about it, and it wasn’t until later that I found out it was about a real event. I just though it was a great song until I started seeing stories about it in my local papers.
I was GM of a marine fueling biz for 16 years. We operated a 149 foot fueling tanker “MV Reiss Marine” to bring fuel over to where the ore carriers were loading in the Duluth-Superior port.
Our tanker captain had helped put the last fuel on the Ed Fitz. He said the cook on the Fitz had taken ill and a replacement cook was called in from the union hall in Superior.
The cook told our captain he had a forboding about the trip he was about to take...
The Edmund Fitzgerald went down and stayed down. Hillary is trying to come back.
