Of all the Western nations, Americans are the least likely to believe in evolution, according to a recent survey. Still, some applauded when even more recent statistics apparently showed that support for creationism had dropped below 40% in America. Still, at 38%, one has to wonder how precise those numbers are.
America has had a history of fundamentalist Protestantism. The Puritans were not like the wavering Anglicans whom they fled. Nor would they take suggestions from the Pope. This streak has informed our country from its inception. And, contrary to present disdain, that influence was often for the good. A substantial number of those fundamentalists, especially Baptists, supported the American Revolution.
New polling data show that for the first time in a long time there’s a notable decline in the percentage of Americans -- including Christians -- who hold to the “Young Earth” creationist view that humankind was created in its present form in the past 10,000 years, evolution playing no part.
According to a Gallup poll conducted in May, the portion of the American public taking this position now stands at 38%, a new low in Gallup’s periodic surveys. -- USA Today
However, it has to be remembered that what has been reduced is literal creationism. A lot of Americans are otherwise bible-believing Christians who just understand the opening chapters of Genesis to be metaphorical. They otherwise accept Jesus, the Trinity, and the atoning work on the cross.
Europeans, by contrast, have chiefly embraced standard evolution as established fact. Even formerly religious Ireland is way ahead of the USA in acceptance of naturalistic evolution.

If you walk outside and take a look at the dirt and the rocks, there’s no way to discern how old things are.
If you put a lot of faith in what people write in books and in the people themselves, it’s easy to believe the world is billions of years old.
If you read the Bible, you know God created heaven and earth, and that our experience with time is not God’s.
When it comes to science (evolution, global warming, etc.) all sides must be presented all of the time. And that’s because there is no such thing as “settled science”. Anyone who tries to limit or restrict scientific debate is nothing more than a fascist.

Those “Christians” have painted themselves into quite the corner, since Jesus did not believe the “opening chapters to be metaphorical”. In fact, if they were metaphorical, there would be no need for Jesus. As I said, such “Christians” have really got themselves one doozy of a catch-22.
Creationism is based on faith whereas evolution is a testable scientific theory which has been born out repeatedly without being falsified. Believe what you will.
Most creationists believe in evolution they just do not hold to Darwin’s evolution. We do not believe that species Transformer metamorph to another species. Do you?

I don’t like these articles because he never failed to differentiate between Darwin’s evolution and micro or macro evolution.
Oh, really? And it's "testable" over tens of thousands of years. . . how? Fruit flies? And why only primates? Why haven't alligators evolved into something else? They've been on earth a lot longer than mammals.
Personally, I follow the Ancient Aliens theory of the creation of mankind.

There is no way to test evolution (molecules to man) and no way to falsify it either.
It is a faith proposition as is creationism.
Laws of nature dictate that matter/energy was initiated from outside of nature.
The question is not “Is there a Creator?”. The question is “Who is the Creator?”
Scripture provides a compelling answer.
Odd, I don’t recall saying anything came from nothing. I think the Big Bang Theory says the universe came from a singularity. I know very little about that. Abiogenesis theories begin with many materials, not nothing. Evolution deals with changes in living organisms.
I wonder how many of those same Christians take the 10 commandments metaphorically too? I bet none ...
If you take Genesis 1-3 metaphorically, then you must take Exodus 20 the same way.

Then, where did the mammals come from? Paleontology does give us fossils of reptiles that look a lot like primitive mammals. The process is incremental and takes small changes over generations. Even the so called Cambrian explosion during which many new species are found in the fossil record took more than 20 million years.

Oh I know. Evolutionists always want to start with God’s stuff. The don’t know how to create life.

Oh, I know. It is based on assumptions to cover gaps, to portray the theory as fact.
It takes an equal amount of faith - or more - to believe in evolution into new species, as to believe in creation.
Believe as you will.
Atomic physics introduces us to isotopes which give us a means to measure through measuring radioactive decay, to date accurately rock and the fossils it contains. Comparative morphology will show relationships of fossils over time. You don’t have to be there to watch. Scripture is often allegorical. It gives us faith and values that science can never address beyond validating the age and origin of written material but never the religious presentations.
Who knows what constituted the singularity, not nothing certainly. Evolution doesn’t deal with abiogenesis. It deals only with life. It can’t be held responsible for things not under its province.
DNA gives a pretty good idea of who and what were your ancestors.
