Fruitcake?

Why would anyone respect Hillary Clinton?

Best Fruitcakes you can get. Soaking in brandy, rum or bourbon.

My grandmother’s recipe was and is the best. It’s what I make every year.

Grew up eating fruitcake, which explains a lot. Have a very simple recipe that pleases everyone. Dad likes it because his Mom made it every year and she made it because her family was Welsh, just off the boat in the 1890s. Her Welsh-speaking family was earnest about assimilating so none of the younger kids spoke Welsh, and the only food traditions we have are fruitcake, mince pie and a liking for hot tea.

Fresh fruitcake, with a strong cup of Joe, is delicious. Folks are welcome to unload their unwanted fruitcake on me.

I love fruitcake. We make our own, different variations, then soak them with brandy, whiskey or rum. I make a traditional English version, a tropical and northern fruits version. When finished you can actually get tipsy if you eat too much. The fruitcake aficianado people love them.

Here’s a little tradition that I have at Christmas time.

I take a fruitcake and put it out on a stump in the back.

Then, I go out and practice my ax throwing skills.

Steve! Keep your stinking leaves out of my lawn!

I’ve always liked fruitcake. Growing up, we had few sweets, except at Christmas. My mother would make divinity, fudge, and ambrosia, bake cookies & pies, and buy fruitcake. Was such a treat. My father had a sweet tooth, particularly for caramels and the candy canes we would hide on the tree.

Fruitcakes are junk. Anybody that gives you fruitcake doesn’t actually like you.

Fruitcake would be delicious if made with ACTUAL DREID FRUIT, chocolate chips, and rum/bourbon soaked cake. I’ve tasted it like that. It’s the phony plastic technicolor “fruit” that makes it ghastly.

The problem with many fruit cakes is the candied fruit. The dyes give the fruit a weird flavor especially when it has been baked.

Fruit cake with simply dried fruit is lovely.

I have always liked good fruitcake.

The problem probably began with some made with really cheap ingredients.

I like fruitcake. I’ve bought 5-6 Claxtons this year.

I’ll be receiving one for Christmas from my brother. I think this is the 27th year we’ve exchanged the same one. We use imaginative gift wrap. Last year, I gave it to him embedded in about 150 lbs of rocks and polyurethane adhesive.
