Three choices.
1. It was a Real Alert, but the missile got removed somehow. Not likely as such things attract all sorts of attention.
2. It was an alert that was triggered on purpose. Lots of reasons for this.
3. It was a big case of stupid.
I hate to say that after further reflection, I am leaning to a big case of stupid. We as a nation can barely keep our warships out of the way of freighters lately, so someone accidentally triggering the alert while looking for the light switch just might be plausible.

The text message sent to tv’s was different than the cell phone message. The TV message said PACOM had detected an inbound missile. In order for this type of message to be used, there are confirmation protocols required. PACOM spokesman said no missile detection occurred, I look forward to the FCC report on this incident.
Personally I think it was an information dump .It was done by us because the state wound not give us access.The long time to say it was safe is a clue. It was enough time to get the info.It was done to protect us.JMO
