Some libtard did it to alert everyone “how dangerous the world has become under President Trump.”

I don’t know what to make of this, but Rush had some good observations today. I find it remarkable that one guy could accidentally hit one button one time and set off a chain of events like this. It seems to me there would be some sort “two man rule” or other safety check providing a second chance to verify that you really did want to send out an actual alert of this type.

The Norks actually shot off a missile toward Hawaii. It was detected. The warnings were sent out. But the Nork missile yet again - for “mysterious” reasons - went off course. /what, anyone really thinks we pay $1,200 for a hammer?!

It was intentional sabotage by the deep State to make the President look bad and draw us into a war. There is no way two plane crashes can bring down two huge buildings like that.

Oh wait. never mind.

Some doofus hit the wrong button and made a mistake.

I spent 24 years in the Air Force in Command & Control, working in Command Post, Command Centers, above and below ground with 15 of those years as part of a two man emergency actions team involved in execution of the SIOP (Single Integrated Operations Plan and the NWRP (Nuclear Weapons Release Plan). I can say without hesitation that this is not the first time a false indication has happened and as long as humans are involved in any way it wont be the last. The difference this time is that Democrats are looking for anything that might make the Trump administration look bad. So the people of Hawaii got spooked, so? They should look at it positively as it was the best exercise that could be done and they should be looking at who did not respond appropriatly during the period it was believed to be real and look for fixes for those and any other weaknesses identified. Learning from the experience instead of crying about it and playing the “blame game” may save many lives should it be real next time.

I will respond here as I did on the Rush thread.

I run a mass notification system for a large medical campus. While out text message system is direct and not “broadcast”, the front end is virtually the same.

Events are listed in a drop down menu. The process to trigger one goes like this: password and user name to log on. You can see the events you are authorized to see.

You select the event you want. Then you enter another user name and password.

The event screen comes up. You are asked to verify the message. You must select the proper response. If the event is a standard message you are not allowed to change the text. (We can always change the text in ours.).

You press “activate.” Then you get the screen that reads: “Do you really want to activate this event.”

If someone is doing this by rote, picking the wrong event is pretty simple. And then the dolt would just click through. Then it goes out.

In our system, we could immediately cancel an event—that would limit the distribution, but with broadband connections that would need to be a quick cancellation.

In our system, we could easily go back to the same event and immediately change the text to cancel the event. Evidently, the HEMA folks can’t be trusted. Or they don’t have a “cancel code” event in their system.

That is how it happens. This was laziness and inattention. There are plenty of chances to stop the process once you are putting it in motion.

For those of us who use these systems daily, you learn quickly how to cancel a code. You don’t want doctors scrambling to false alarms more than once.

First - there is no “BUTTON”

They have a computer screen.

When they want to run a test alert (non broadcast) a drop down menu appears. They select Test media alert.

The mistake is they have two choices on the drop down menu

1 TEST MEDIA ALERT
2 MEDIA ALERT (This is the one that sends out the message)

It was reported the person made the wrong choice.

On my computer my RENAME and DELETE menu choices are next to each other. Every so often when renaming a file I accidentally click on DELETE - Now here is the thing - when I do I get a dialog box asking me if I am sure I want to delete. I realize my mistake and say no and click the correct icon.

So if the system does indeed have a drop down menu with two choice and the programmer did not provide for a possible mistake they are also responsible for what occurred.

Since we know governments lie to cover their own butts all the time there is no way to know at this time the information as described above is even true. I think in time we will get more answers since the citizens of Hawaii will demand it.

We use MailChimp sometimes to send out press releases on behalf of clients.

You have to jump through so many hoops just to hit that final send button. Not to mention even the number of people that need to sign off on a final. And I’m talking for mundane things.

I just can’t believe that the steps/protocol/standards for sending out ballistic missle warning are less than those used for sending an email using MailChimp.
