After years of de-funding and defaming our military, the left is hysterical at the idea of a military parade. Reasonable people can disagree on the idea - it's just that the left/MSM is so unreasonable. (e.g., comparing Trump's to a North Korean dictator)

When the Gathering Storm hits DC, it would be helpful for the military drivers to know the layout of the streets. /hopeful humor

Anything the left is against, anything, can only be good so I am all for this parade, especially after 8 years of our military and vets being trashed. I would say we should even go so far as to hang up giant posters of Trump just to drive them more nuts.

BTW: If you want to drive a leftist completely out of his or her mind, ask them to sign this petition calling for making Trumps birthday a national holiday LOL....

Trump is not talking missile displays like NK or Russia.

He's talking a historical parade similar to the one he saw in France.

Tanks, jeeps....we've had those in our local Memorial Day Parade for years....to honor our soldiers.

(obama)- a commander-in-chief who reveled in complaining about America and decimating our military.

He did not do it alone. We already know that former President is an anti American, anti christian, anti military. What actions took the Congress, the rest of the Executive power, the Pentagon? Did they oppose his destructive policies?

It will be a great parade and should be held on June 14th.

Maybe it’s more like “Trump wants a military parade because he knows it will make liberals hysterical”.

I can pretty much guarantee that most of the brass doesn't like this idea either. This kind of parade will suck up training and maintenance time as commanders try to ensure that their unit looks perfect at a useless parade. The epitome of a time-wasting dog and pony show.

A true victory parade -- sure. But a hardware/personnel parade just for the sake of having one...ugh. If the President wants to see one that badly, he can hop up the road to Annapolis and catch one of the spring formal parades.

I say all this as someone who has generally been a huge fan of Trump as President. But this is a misstep, and not because of the stupid leftist complaints about it being too militaristic.

I don't think we need a huge military parade, but the implication by the left that Trump wants it as tribute to him is bullshiite. Trump wants recognition for the military and to try and rekindle the pride that all Americans should have in our service members.

I agree there should be more presence by the military in parades on certain Holidays days, like Veterans Day, Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. The military has all but disappeared. The military has too much to do and too tight a budget for huge nationalistic shows, but smaller local participation would be nice.

The local Joint Forces Training Base near me used to put on an event annually, it featured military aircraft fixed winged and rotored, personnel carriers, equipment, local law enforcement, and firefighters. It was great for the children and community. last year it was cancelled at the last minute with the excuse of safety concerns. Yeah right, safe for years but suddenly not. More squeeze on the military is what it was, and the result less interaction with the public and both suffering for it.

Trump's outspoken advocacy for increased diligence in taking care of America's Veterans; his persistence and persuasion for increased taxpayer-funded dollars going to defense of the Republic by its military, and his ongoing praise and honor of military families speaks for itself!

As one who, for decades has studied America's founding ideas, as spoken and written by those men and women themselves, no military parade is necessary, either for citizens of America or for those who view us from afar!

Do not hand the Progressive watchdogs, domestic and foreign, a weapon against you!

Let your actions on behalf of "the forgotten men and women" speak for our military's role in preserving liberty and freedom, Mr. President--hardware on display will not accomplish that. Prior imagery of that tool by other nation's leaders is too strong and offensive to several generations of Americans for it to accomplish your desired purpose!

I’ll fly-in for that parade, and hopefully won’t be assaulted by the left.

They selected my platoon to provide a tank to the two big military displays they had when President Reagan took office.

They let me select the tank and crew.

My Soldiers almost came to blows over who was going to get the honor.

Anybody who says the military doesn’t want to participate is full of shirt.

If they hold it in Pittsburgh, {I'm a Vet and have a permit to carry} I'd proudly march...err, kinda march, kinda limp along, in the old Vet section, with my own loaded weapons.

If the President is going to be there, the SS may have an issue with that idea.

Trump has lived in NYC and they have a large veteran day parade.

NEW YORK, NY – Marine Corps veteran Mark Otto, a long-time New York Stock Exchange trader, has been named Executive Director of the United War Veterans Council (UWVC) , producer of the New York City Veterans Day Parade and a nationwide initiative to honor service, UWVC Chair Doug McGowan announced today.

Otto will be responsible for day-to-day workings of the UWVC, such as planning and producing the New York City Veterans Day Parade, the largest commemoration of service in the nation; coordination and support for other Veterans’ Service Organizations such as the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Team Red, White and Blue, and Operation Beachhead, and expanding on the UWVC Health & Wellness program which he initiated in the last year.

He also will coordinate a national network of Veterans Day commemorations by 2019, the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI in 2018 and the 100th anniversary of the first Veterans Day Parade in 2019, which honored those who served in WWI, and other commemorations, such as Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Day and Memorial Day.
