Russia's Space Agency Might Break Up With the U.S. To Get With China
Popular Mechanics ^ | Mar 2018 | Anatoly Zak

Last month Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos State Corporation, began work on a contingency plan that would reshape its future in space exploration. The country could shift its human spaceflight cooperation from the U.S. to China, sources within Roscosmos told Popular Mechanics. One possible scenario includes Roscosmos exiting the International Space Station program early.

If adopted, the new strategy would mark a historic moment for the Russian space program, which has cooperated with the U.S. for nearly three decades. In 1993, not long after the breakup of the USSR.

Вторая холодная война - Cold War II and a renewed Space Race has been on for these two powers since before we've woken up to the reality ourselves.

Until both the Chinese and Russian governments and societies dramatically transform, the U.S. should be at this alone (or actual allies with nascent space programs) and work on bettering our capabilities here at home. Not like we haven't been underestimated only to then come from behind before.

We don't win through manpower and scientific/technological prowess, but through the renewed moral strength and freedom of our people here at home. MAGA.

Possibly because we don’t currently have a human space flight operation? Kinda stopped in July of 2011.

With all the sanctions, and expelling various diplomats - should it really be unexpected that Russia might not want to help us? That’s why we need to develop our own launch capability ASAP.

This is idiotic. We are pushing Russia more and more towards China. Together, they will have more economic & military power than we have in 15-20 years.

NeoCon wreckers are taking us down.

No worries! Just a phase till we get our act together as a sovereign, self-sufficient country again. (And Putin state implodes.)

Chinese famously have tensions working with Russians. (According to something I read, the Chinese "look down" on them in smugness.)

I didn't even know who Elon Musk/SpaceX was till some Russian friends told me. He has more fanboys there than here. ☺

Ah no “Well...bye”

We have NO man space flight capability at this time... Nara zip nothing

When they retired the space shuttle they didn’t have replacement man system ...and we still don’t ....thanks Obama

we have to hitch a ride up to the space station with the Russians

So as of today right now

The Russians have the capability of putting men into space

The Chinese have the capability of putting men into space

And that it...only those two countries in the world that can put a man into space

We can’t right now

We do not have a system in place at this time

Then so be it. At this point “man in space” isn’t worth the expense. Robots in space. Robots in orbit. Robots on the moon. Robots on Mars. Robots diving down into the seas of moons around Jupiter and Saturn. Robots on the way to Alpha Centauri. Robots mining asteroids. Robots corralling comets.

We can field an army of robots for the cost of a single human in space. And we can do so much more. Including have the tech in place to restrain mischief-makers.
