I hope Jon Caldera can get this shoved up their a$$es. This violates state law IMO.
Yes, Jon Caldera is leading the law suit. I also hope he wins. I avoid Boulder, but the road to my house winds in and out of Boulder County. I have searched the maps and there is no way to avoid it. If this expands to Boulder County then it is a bad situation.
Denver used to have a city law prohibiting carry of guns in cars. They used it to confiscate cars and auction them for revenue even though no criminal activity was found and even though the drivers were in compliance with state law. The State Law was passed to prevent municipalities from passing laws to generate revenue when travelers had no clue about the patchwork of laws.
Indeed. I also never enter Denver County unless I just have to have something I can’t get anywhere else.
***Yet, it goes beyond that, because the definition of an assault weapon (yes, I know not a real term) is so broad.***
Remember back in around 1986 when California attempted to pass their first AW ban and it was found lever action rifles were also included in the ban?
They were removed because of the outcry, then the bill shelved as there was not enough support for it.
Then they released Pat Purdy from an insane asylum, allowed him to pass California’s gun waiting periods, and buy an AK-47 in Oregon. Then he shot up the Stockton school.
The shelved bill was pulled out ans quickly passed before opposition could be mounted against it.
Set up a private shooting range within view of the city and have a blast!
Or Lenin, or Castro, or Mao, or the UK, or Germany, or all the other places that make it illegal or regulatorily impossible to have a useful self defense firearm.
Why isnt the NRA suing these turds? They should sue each member of the council personally on behalf of affected members over violation of 2A rights. I am beginning to wonder if the NRA has really allowed itself to be neutered by Hogg boy. Too bad, I hoped Ollie would be the attack dog the NRA needed, I guess I was wrong.
Yes, criminals and illegal aliens are OK, but honest, law abiding citizens are the enemy. The more crime requires more government power over society, what they want.
If I were the NRA, I wouldn’t waste money contributed by members on any attempt at legal action in that state. It would be like trying to litigate against bad actors in Italy.
Yes and no.
They banned cosmetic features that are meaningless.
No thumbhole stocks, no pistol grips, no “large capacity magazines”, no “flash suppressors”, registration of long guns, etc.
All rammed through at midnight without public input as “emergency legislation” and then deferred implementation for three months.
(Some emergency.)
Then the state courts, shocker, upheld the just and due cause of the law and the way it was put up.
Pretty much “you peasants better like it”
People couldn’t leave Kalifornika fast enough back in the l1te 70’s and early 80’s. Shame many of them landed in Boudler. Colorado is now lost.
Pretty sure SCOTUS will shoot this one down.
The AR15 is available from .22 to .50 beowulf without going to the ar10. Something there for everyone.
FReepmail me if you want to be added to or deleted from the list.
More 2nd Amendment related articles on FR's Bang List.
Now, compare that to a Remington 870 which is capable of 11 shots (with modifications...) and is used by over 20 military's around the world including our own.
The Remington 870 is one of the most popular home defense weapons, period.
Thuys proves the LIE of gun control.
What of the federal law which states that if a gun is legal at an origin and a destination, that it is legal on the traveler’s path between the two points, so long as it is secured on the journey?
Good luck with avoiding Denver county. With all the annexations there are intersections with signs that state which police to call depending on what part of the intersection you are in. There are apartment complexes with odd and even numbers are in a different county. Trust me being an election judge after 1700 and telling someone they had to go someplace else to vote was not fun for them. Given we have two week early voting it was fun for me.
Currently on my “Don’t Ever Go There List” is California. May have to add Colorado.
