Mystery as IDENTICAL letters appear in 21 newspapers across 12 states slamming Trump's Supreme Court pick – and they're all signed by different people

At least 21 U.S. newspapers ran identical letters to the editor opposing President Trump's Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh this week

Each letter was published with the name of a different 'signer,' claiming Kavanaugh threatens 'everything that we hold dear as a nation'

Technique is known as 'astroturfing'; it's unclear who's behind it

One editor says the woman who appeared to have emailed him the letter now denies ever sending it

Three prominent liberal advocacy groups that oppose Kavanaugh's nomination have all denied involvement in the campaign.

The White House is shrugging off the technique, whose history includes similar campaigns from the Republican Party and the liberal MoveOn.org

Judge Brett Kavanaugh is going into the Supreme Court confirmation process with a hail of rhetorical arrows zinging by him, including a phony letter-writing campaign aimed at unsuspecting American newspaper editors

At least 21 papers were duped last week, including big-market brands like the Dallas Morning News and The Washington Times. They ran identical letters over a four-day period, each signed by a different person.

The effort is an example of public-relations 'astroturfing,' a technique meant to simulate genuine grassroots support for an idea or cause.

The form letter is one small piece of the message minefield erupting around Kavanaugh as he prepares for a brutal confirmation process that will end with scant support from Democrats.

The late Fred Thompson’s campaign website had a gizmo where you could write a Letter to the Editor and check-off hundreds of media outlets to send it to. Worked like a charm.

How many people actually read the newspaper anymore, let alone the letters to the editor.

I would bet the average age of newspaper readers is at least 70. The future does not bode well for the business model.

A lot of newspapers require name and phone number to verify who sent the Letter To The Editor.

I haven’t read a complete newspaper in probably five years. Free Republic is my primary news source and I can read hundreds of articles that I otherwise would not have access to if it was print media.

Probably many don’t know how this works. I know it because my friend was involved. Ok a lobbyist group has a certain agenda they want infused into the public psyche. They then go and hire a marketing company, which then hires a sleazier company ( to launder the trail) which then has groups of writers that they either send a general transcript of the issue to and they re write it with key points mentioned in the letter to the editor. This is done on a timed basis. The editors know this and also get kick backs from the marketing company to publish said letters. This way it appears that “ EVERYONE IS CONCERNED about issue xx” Its particularly used as pseudo evidence cited by politician that want to push a political position counter to their constituents. They hold up their local papers and say see??? look at what our people are concerned with, i must take courage and act in the best interest of...... (special interest) You see its all a racket. Its also done in movies and TV shows. In the trades there are special “ contests that are announced, Lets say $400,000 prize “for the best scene that covers women’s right to choose in a positive light, etc, that will be broadcast between the dates of XX weeks. Well as the producer you know exactly when said episodes will air because you know the times because you have pre arrange the contract with the network for air dates. So you walk into your writers room and say “ Hey write me a scene in episode 19 that covers x and x” The writers know whats going on. They write what they are told. This way you have lets say 5-8 different shows submitting entrance for the prize money( but appearing a mere innocent coincidence....) all talking about a specific political topic during the same week.... and which week is that? OHHHHH it is the week chosen by the lobbyist group because they know 6 months ahead of time that bill will be up for debate on that specific week. SEEEEE its industrialized propaganda but on the corporate and political level. THAT is how they do what they do.

Soros can still target the over 70 crowd. Some of them rooted for Jerry Brown over McGovern and went to the Human Be-In to see Timothy Leary and Allen Ginsberg. Now they are over 70 and leftover hippies still watching for the dawn of socialism to unite the working class. Their love beads vibrate at the thought.
