I have an opportunity to purchase a ranch style house cheap, but it housed animals (primarily cats) for twenty or thirty years.

The odor is almost unbearable and all the cleaning solutions I have tried don't really get rid of the odor.

I know enough to toss everything, especially cushiony / fabric stuff.

IS there a cleaning product specifically designed to eliminate animal odor ..... besides this:

Try a product called Nature’s Miracle.

We have used Dang on stains. There is also nature’s miracle which we’ve had mixed success with. it is hard. Cat stank perseveres

I would try buckets of charcoal in the rooms where the smell is bad. And I don’t mean Kingsford, b/c that crap has lighter fluid in it.

(I honestly don’t know where you’d get plain charcoal but I’m sure with research you could find it).

Is the problem flooring or furniture? Anything you can throw out, do it. The base flooring and lower part of the walls can be sealed with original Kilz.

Cat spray odor is practically impossible to get rid of. Maybe something that can break down the uric acid? I would like to know myself.

rip out all carpets and replace, Probably needs that done anyway. Paint the walls. Nothing like a new coat of paint to refresh an interior.

For carpet I have found White Vinegar, a brush, paper towels, a sponge and lots of elbow grease.

I tried all the fancy cleaners, but the answer was cheap vinegar the whole time.

Put down baking soda before and after for better results.

“Anti Icky Poo” by “Mister Max” products. Gallon-size from Amazon®, unscented. Use it liberally; let it soak in.
Contains a water solution of enzymes and live bacteria to “eat up” the organic contaminants. Safe for wood floors, plastics, fabrics.

Why humans house animals right in their dwelling place has always puzzled me.

Nature’s Miracle can remove much, but if urine has soaked down through to the sub flooring, you are at a totally different level of pain.

Try Stain & Odor Eliminator by Rocco & Roxie. If that don’t work nothing will!

I don’t believe all Kingsford has lighter fluid. The stuff that does sure does have a distillate odor to it big time.

A number of specialty meat stores in my area also sell straight up charcoal. Lots of grillin’ down here in the south.

Yeah, cat funk is persistent.

I second Nature’s Miracle.

Have you replaced any drywall or gotten to sub flooring?

Cats or Dogs will sometimes spray walls which gets to baseboards, etc...

My wife’s cousin had some cats. After he died, the house reeked of cat piss and mold. The buyer just tore it down and rebuilt. Sorry.
