Once government employment ends, so should any type of security clearance. If the person gets employed in a position that requires a security clearance, they should have to go thru the same process as someone applying for a clearance for the first time.

When they are retired or fired they should immediately be debriefed, and have their clearances and access removed. The idea that they are a prominent figure and need to have a clearance to put their “papers” in order is pure BS.

When I retired from the military, all of my clearances and accesses were removed. If I had gone to work for the government or government contractors and required the same clearances then they would have had to reinstate the ones I would need in a new position. Even on active duty, the various clearances were removed when they were not needed for the next assignment and any new ones were granted as needed.

They are using their access for political and monetary gain which nobody else can do when they leave their positions. All materials generated as a part of their position, classified or not are the property of the government and NOT their personal property. Remove them for all of them.

He is the commander in FREAKING Chief. Why does he need permission to deny a security clearance? Seriously?

I suspect that the clearances of departed execs are kept active in case they need to be brought in quickly for advice or consultation during a national emergency. It’s not like they are being given daily intel briefings.

Just a guess, mind you.

So what. I’m surprised that they don’t lose it when they leave.

Should any business let ex-employees keep the keys?

BTW, Does zero have a security clearance at this point?

WHY IN THE HELL doesn’t Trump just revoke ALL clearances straight across the board if they NO LONGER work for the government!!! This will save him from the lefts attack on him saying it is some sort of revenge!!! If you leave your government job your clearance is REVOKED, period end of conversation!!! What in the HELL would be unusual about that!!! I am frankly STUNNED at the information that these people STILL hold their clearances!!!

I can see the reasoning of transitioning administrations keeping abreast of issues already in the Que but this group is making blatant personal political comments. With the positions they hold.

This group already botched protecting us from their narrative of so-called Russian meddling

Hilary should be removed too.

I would also hope someone monitors these liars after they are removed.

“A reporter on Fox who was in the press room said you could hear a major gasp from most of the reporters”

Why would they be shocked? I was shocked they still had clearance so there.

Why does everyone say to DEPORT them: terrorists, home grown commies, illegal aliens !?

All that does is leave them free to continue their evil ways and/or sneak back across the Border !!!

EXECUTE THE SCUMBAGS !!!

Seriously can ANYONE GIVE ME A GOOD REASON ???

I don’t think so...

How do these people keep clearances when they are out of government? Whose brilliant idea is that?

Well, it was probably THEIR idea. Nice work if you can get it, huh?

any one not currently working in government or in industry in a area that requires a security clearance should have it limited or put on hold till a return to service... even if working in government if the security clearance is not needed or the job it should be limited or put on hold...Brennon has no real need to know at the level he had when he was the head of the CIA.

Agreed. But those egomaniacs in Congress seem to think he needs to run any decision by THEM first, then some RAT judge in Hawaii or California will claim that THEY have the power to control things.

The President needs to start using his power against these people.

If they are fired or retired, their clearance should have vanished the minute they signed that paperwork. In any other place it would have been. I was shocked to learn it hadn’t been.

If they are running around making baseless accusations their clearances should be pulled.

Have you ever in your life seen former top intelligence officers behave this way?

And in the same breath they will say they are nonpartisan.

Good. If you are out of service for the government your “need to know” is gone.

My TS was gone as soon as I left the AF. I went right back into a TS needed job 3 months later and had to go through the entire process again. 1989.

It is a courtesy and, if necessary, they may need to be consulted in the future.

But who ould want Comey, Clapper and Brennan’s advice on anything. Not even, does this tie go with this suit?
