Be sure to see the "recommended reading" and the Sources.

"Inside the pro-vaccination mind, there is a desire for simplicity and safety. It is easier to believe that vaccines are safe and effective (the Supreme Court has ruled them unavoidably unsafe) than it is to do the research. Despite feigning scientific literacy, the pro-vaxxer is unfamiliar with the counter arguments to vaccination, they simply want to shut down any discourse on vaccine safety. If anyone criticizes anything about vaccines they are deemed “anti-science”. In reality, it is the pro-vaxxer who suffers from delusional views. This is called anosognosia or lack of awareness of a deficit."

I took the new Shingrix Shingles Vaccination shot at Sam’s club. It was sore for about 7 days. Not really painful but sore. Will take the follow up shot in a couple of weeks.

I am 59. Doctor said its worth the two shots if it lesson’s or prevents shingles.

Some years ago, my Mother was having another outbreak of shingles. I didn’t know a thing about shingles, so researched it. From places like WebMD, naturopath groups, and Free Republic (!), this is what I found (keep in mind this was about 4 years ago on the Zostavax reference):

- Shingles is caused by the Herpes Zoster virus which is the same virus as Chicken Pox.

- Shingles around your eyes can blind you.

- There is a vaccine for shingles, called Zostavax. Ask your doctor about a shot. Vaccinated people can still get shingles, but they suffer far less pain and the bout is far shorter.

- A non-immune person can get Chicken Pox from you when you have a shingles outbreak.

DO THIS:

L-Lysine - clobbers the herpes zoster virus and props up the immune system.

Vitamin D3 boosts your immune system, wards off viruses.

When you have an outbreak, take 6000-8000 milligrams of L-Lysine a day. Also up your dose of Vitamin D to 4000 milligrams.

Once your outbreak is all cleared up, take 2000 milligrams of L-Lysine and Vitamin D as a maintenance dose each day.

I bought my Mother the two vitamins, and her shingles were completely gone in about two weeks. She did not have another outbreak before she passed, about 2 years later, where she had been having an outbreak every 6-9 months.

When, 2 months ago, my Daughter sent me a picture of a horrible outbreak and told me it was shingles, I sent her the same info as I’d provided my Mom. Daughter’s outbreak was healing in 3 days after she started the L-Lysine and went from not being able to wear clothing to healing well.

I know you could label this info as anecdotal, but you never know!

L-Lysine is a hit or miss. Most people take it for your normal cold sore (herpes) outbreaks, but it has mixed results for different people. I’ve tried it and I really can’t tell the difference. But worth a try.

“Medicare pays for it.”

I was told, not by a doctor, that Medicare doesn’t pay for the shingles vaccination.
If it does, I’m getting the shot!
My daughter is suffering through the shingles now.

if you spend a lot of time around grandkids who have not had the chicken pox you should not get it

I had shingles 4 years ago. I got the impression back then that if one is exposed to kids with active cases of chicken pox every few years, after having it yourself, then that exposure inoculates you against shingles.

Since most kids are now inoculated against chicken pox, few adults are ever re-exposed to it. That makes them vulnerable to getting shingles. Just my impression.

Got my first one in March. Arm was very sore for about a week. Was supposed to get the second one in May but they ran out! I’ve got until September to get the second one or I’ll have to redo it if they don’t get the vaccine in....

The original shingles vaccine did not produce any discomfort past the first day. Both my wife and I got that vaccine.

My wife has now gotten the new vaccine. First dose in June caused discomfort for about 36 hrs. Caused soreness in the arm and a slight malaise, but no noticeable fever. She received the second dose in late July. It caused serious aching in the arm. She couldn’t sleep that night. For a day and a half she ran a fever and had that beaten down feeling that a fever creates. There was a lingering ache in her arm also. After the middle of the 3rd day, the fever went away and the aching in the arm slowly subsided. On day 4 she felt pretty normal.

Walgreen’s pharmacist where my wife go the new vaccine indicates that many people are experiencing 2 or three days of discomfort. Compared to actually getting shingles that is nothing. Just be prepared for it. She had shingles in the past and would have traded 2 or 3 days of discomfort in a heartbeat.

My almost 83-year-old mother just got the 2 part new shot. If she can deal with it all you folks can too:)

It’s 98% effective. You don’t want shingles.

If you get it on the face you can lose an eye. Get the shot.

I work in the health care industry, and I'm a cancer survivor. Aside from the fact that your "source" for this information is obviously biased, I asked you for proof that vaccines are inherently harmful.

The statement you posted starts with an incorrect premise: most people in our industry are not "pro-vaccine." We are pro-science, and we follow data. We've done the research, but we're open to the scientific method; that is, show us the correlation between autism and vaccines, and we might change our minds.

You end the statement with an argument that the "Global Warming" crowd might make--GW is "settled science" and if I suggest otherwise, I'm delusional.
