More than 600 people got sick after eating at one Chipotle. Health officials don’t know why yet.

Chipotle in Powell between July 26 and 30

Chipotle said that it voluntarily closed the store last week for 24 hours after the period the illnesses were reported, replacing all of its food and cleaning and sanitizing the restaurant.

Sheila L. Hiddleson, the health commissioner from the county, said in an email that it was still awaiting lab results to determine the cause of the sicknesses.

The Dayton Daily News said that tests have so far come back negative for Salmonella, Shigella, E. coli and Norovirus.

Chipotle has had some high-profile issues with food safety before. A federal inquiry examined the Denver-based chain’s food safety practices in 2015 after 207 people became ill with norovirus after eating at an outpost in California. As The Post’s Caitlin Dewey reported, outbreaks of E. coli, salmonella and norovirus prompted it to close more than 2,000 locations for food safety training in February 2016.

It’s fresh contamination though.

Yeah, this isn’t a coincidence. They’re being sabotaged.

It’s not difficult to see what’s going on here. Some of the illegal and DACA employees in the kitchen have a beef with President Trump, so they lash out at the gringo customers by adding a little special sauce to their burrito.

My guess is that they have sanitation practices that are good for the planet, but not for people.

I think this might be in the same district as the election last night.

Can anyone say Listeria ?

Listeriosis can cause a variety of symptoms, depending on the person and the part of the body affected. Listeria can cause fever and diarrhea similar to other foodborne germs, but this type of Listeria infection is rarely diagnosed. Symptoms in people with invasive listeriosis, meaning the bacteria has spread beyond the gut, depend on whether the person is pregnant.

How is Chipotle still in business? This is a recurring problem that is apparently tied to their business model.
Why haven’t they voluntarily closed all of their locations? Why would anyone eat at any Chipotle?

I don’t eat at Chipolte, but like you, it is their perceived attitude that made me post that!

No sabotage, they have a flawed business model and approach to food storage and preparation. This is only the latest of a string of health problems for them. A couple of years ago when people were dying there was suggestion they drop their approach, adopt industry standards. They refused and as a result we see almost every month or two people getting sick from eating their foods. Often it is the employees as well. Karma.

Additionally, I know I shouldn't eat at Taco Bell because it simply doesn't look...clean, but, God help me, I enjoy their dog meat tacos...when I get home the dogs growl at me and the cats rub against my legs...:)

“You’re better off going to McDonalds or even Taco Bell.”

It seems Chipotle has had trouble with this ever since McDonalds bailed on their stock.

Hmmmmm.

I won’t eat a Chipotle. They hire illegal aliens

I haven't been to Chipotle for a while but I did go there quite a few times and never had the impression they were employing illegal aliens. It seemed more like the workers were just very young people, maybe a lot of them on their first job and a little careless.

In contrast, at one of Chipotle's main competitors, I often had the impression that a lot of the staff might be illegal aliens (although they seemed to be very good workers), and one time it appeared that almost the entire staff had changed and a new poster from an immigration agency appeared on the wall.

Try going to Chipotle in Colorado. Their workers don’t even speak English.

Why does ONE restaurant chain have such never ending problems with food contamination in their supply line?

One poster already has brought up the possibility of industrial sabotage. It is a possibility that shouldn't be ignored.

Since 2015 I bet Chipotle has collectively produced more diarrhea than that which has emanated from Hillary’s mouth in the same time frame.
