The Eagles have flown past Michael Jacksons Thriller to take the record for the best-selling album of all time.
Recording Industry Association of America confirmed to the Associated Press on Monday that the bands 1976 compilation album, Their Greatest Hits (19711975), has been certified 38x platinum, which means sales and streams of the album have reached 38 million copies. That officially puts it ahead of Thriller, which has been certified 33x platinum.
Thats not even the limit of the Eagles record-selling dominance. In addition to grabbing the No. 1 spot, the band also has the third-best-selling album of all time: 1977s Hotel California, which is now 26x platinum.
We are grateful for our families, our management, our crew, the people at radio and, most of all, the loyal fans who have stuck with us through the ups and downs of 46 years. Its been quite a ride, Don Henley said in a statement.

I prefer Mrs. Miller’s rendition of the classic hit, “Downtown”. Such a snappy little tune.....
Is that the woman who always was in the steve allen or jack paar audience?
No, that was Lillian Miller. Dial up Mrs. Miller on YouTube. Such a kick....
The Eagles probably were not even born in 1954.
The ARTICLE was about the group called The Eagles that came much later after 1954.
You and about two other people in the country are aware of the previous group.
thanx
Worldwide, Jackson may still be on top.
_____
I have to wonder, though, who's still buying Eagles albums.
Either you bought the album years ago when you were young, or you don't care about mom and dad's music, right?
But which are they?
There’s a reason Boston’s second album was Don’t Look Back, it was just the same as their first. So, like ignore our previous, but if you are sick of it’s overplay already, you don’t want to hear this one.
The article referred to the Eagles, so I assume it was about the group from Washington, DC who recorded for Mercury in 1954—the real Eagles!
Watched the Eagles documentary a while back on Netflix. I had no idea that Glenn Frey was such a dick.
Thats Freys voice singing backup on Rambling Man. He was like 17 at the time and his parents thought Segar was a bad influence.
Those Eagles could in no way be compared to Micheal Jackson’s album sales.
Bad video, Great road-trip song.
”Btw, the best all time road-trip song imho is...”

Thats a great road trip song for sure! Im trying to figure out why Im not familiar with it as Im of the generation who should know of it. Vietnam vet, got out of the army in 1968, graduated from college in 1972. During early and mid 70s my @$$ was buried working double shifts 24/7 and didnt come up for air till about 1975 or there abouts. So, guess thats why I missed it. Anyway, Im going to add it to my play list. Thanks!
