Having watched a lot of baseball (and not much else programming) I have seen so many commercials where the white male is portrayed as dumb, bumbling or stupid while women, children and "people of color" are the wise, composed, and rational. No doubt this marketing approach has been tested and proved acceptable, but I still find myself irritated every time I see it. While boycotting products marketed this way may or may not be effective I have wondered what the impact would be if some creative politically incorrect film maker would produce parodies of these ads where the white male is portrayed in the absurd extreme that the Wall St. ad becomes distasteful by association. Perhaps these would receive great social media attention. They could be generic or brand specific although my preference would be brand specific.
As an example, I picture a drooling husband wearing protective head gear (maybe too extreme!) with his sophisticated wife shopping for a car where the smarter wife makes the "wise" decision after the drooling husband expresses his foolishness. The commercial transitions somehow where the husband is portrayed as a successful businessman that makes the car purchase possible while still appearing as a drooling fool.
Yea, but he quit smoking with Chantix
Solutions warch Latin media and TV. Where white peoples left a the ideal.
I hope you’re not ‘ just now’ noticing this, it has been going on for a very long time.
There is a commercial the white guy knocks on black guy’s door, asks to mow the lawn. Black guy says “It’s winter” and they pan out to show a snow covered yard.
I actually know a woman who called the cable company to complain. Got a black female company rep who kept saying she didn’t understand the complaint, she doesn’t find it offensive.
It all started with “The Life of Reilly” TV show. I’m just sayin’
This has been going on for the last 25 years, but its been getting worse every year.
My solution? Make note of the worst offenders and don’t buy what they are selling.
Without white males the rest would be in a state of constant rape. Rapee and raper.
You are not at all over-sensitive. Being anti-white and anti-Christian is the only acceptable form of bigotry. Indeed, our media-entertainment complex REQUIRES it.
ADF home security...a World where only ‘White Men’ are the only criminals.
I think it started before that show. Unless I’m confusing shows... there was a show with a stupid dad and his kids were real crappy... it was on in late 60s, maybe early 70s... even as a kid I hated that show because it made the dad seem so stupid. I’m not talking ‘Father Knows Best,’ which I liked... The actor’s name was Danny something, and his real-life daughter was an actress in her own right... whatever that show was, I absolutely hated it. I thought shows couldn’t show dads any dumber... Oi. Was I wrong.
Her She Shed be burnin down.

To the moon Alice, to the moon
You’ve only just noticed? Its been like that for the last 20 years.
Everybody Loves Raymond is the poster sitcom for the condition.
And as you say, most commercials present the dad, or husband, or boyfriend as someone who can’t find their ass with both hands.
Another pet peeve: around 2008, commercials were abut 90% people of color, which, like the queer movement, is meant to give the impression of a larger, or majority demographic than actually exists.
Make Room for Daddy?
That was Danny Thomas and his daughter Marlo was an actress. She is 80 now, I think.
I got hooked on the Netflix El Ministero de Tiempo and Mar de Plastic...for that reason. Better than any of the crap coming out of Hollywood.
Correction: These aren’t Netflix productions, just imports from Spain.
