Having watched a lot of baseball (and not much else programming) I have seen so many commercials where the white male is portrayed as dumb, bumbling or stupid while women, children and "people of color" are the wise, composed, and rational. No doubt this marketing approach has been tested and proved acceptable, but I still find myself irritated every time I see it. While boycotting products marketed this way may or may not be effective I have wondered what the impact would be if some creative politically incorrect film maker would produce parodies of these ads where the white male is portrayed in the absurd extreme that the Wall St. ad becomes distasteful by association. Perhaps these would receive great social media attention. They could be generic or brand specific although my preference would be brand specific.
As an example, I picture a drooling husband wearing protective head gear (maybe too extreme!) with his sophisticated wife shopping for a car where the smarter wife makes the "wise" decision after the drooling husband expresses his foolishness. The commercial transitions somehow where the husband is portrayed as a successful businessman that makes the car purchase possible while still appearing as a drooling fool.
“That was Danny Thomas and his daughter Marlo was an actress. She is 80 now, I think.”
And her “husband” is the doofus, Phil Donahue!
Their excuse is white men had positive commercials from 1950 to 2010. Time to share the positive to other groups. Obviously I dont agree but thats the explanation.
Gosh I guess you miss d Father Knows Best growing up

Nifster,we are not all the same age.
Some of us were adults when that ran-——and some weren’t even born. :-)
.
I prefer KDramas.
That reminds me of the Ring doorbell security system where the African American guy calls the white male robber knucklehead. And he’s livin’ large in a tony neighborhood. I also don’t like to one which show the stay at home effeminate dads who are doing the laundry and dressing up their little daughters in costumes.
How dare you assume the gender of the African American computer prodigy?
Fatherhood is the opposite of effeminate.
The life of Riley first was televised with Jackie Gleason as Chester in 1949. William Bendix took the role from 1953 - 1958. Loved the show.
I stopped watching TV years ago but this is old news, where ya been hiding?
Saul Alinsky is the answer.
Identify the product names. Ridicule them publically.
Polarize them.
That Girl, with Danny and Marlo Thomas?
My bad, Danny never appeared in that series.
Its all been on purpose, nefative programming, for several decades.
Yup Raymond is the perfect example. Ray, Robert and Frank were idiots while Debra and Marie were smart.
#38. Danny Thomas, a comedian and actor, was a real decent person (St. Jude’s Hospital was his life’s work).
Marlo Thomas, a decent young lady, married Phil Donahue (he might be a nice husband etc but as a TV show host he was terrible, a “guest gusher” and a liberal fool.
I’ll take Danny Thomas for a $1,000 donation to St. Jude’s, Alex.
I don’t think I have seen any of these commercials.
Adults watched it
It is played on some cable
Still a good show
Of course your wife thinks you are over sensitive. She must agree that white men are stupid and that women are smart. It is absolutely clear white men are generally used as the punch line in advertising and are portrayed as bumbling idiots.
Think about it.
JoMa
And now he looks more wild-eyed psychotic than ever.
