Some freepers may remember the spooky posts by 'Mother Abigail', a retired CDC scientist whose specialty had been chasing really dangerous bugs. Those who followed her posts knew long before it hit the news that Ebola was going to be found where fruit bats live.

Someone put together a thread devoted to her posts. Makes a good read if you want to scare yourself. She is/was resigned to the idea that we are overdue for a near-extinction event, courtesy of our friends the Flu, SARS, and other mutating viruses that see us as their food supply.
