From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

Most of the raised beds are cleared and ready to plant garlic and winter rye. The beds for winter wheat will need to be prepared but can't be planted till after the first frost.
Still have a few cherry tomatoes on the vine. About half of the vine has turned black. I have placed a branch of the vines from 2 different styles of cherry tomatoes in a pot, to allow roots to form in order to bring in a couple of plants for growing winter tomatoes.

I need to plant my garlic pretty soon.
Need some manure and topsoil so’s I don’t have to dig.
Oh and some straw.
Picked the rest of thecrop before the first frost and put them in cardboard boxes with newspaper.
They ripen a few at a time....and I'm having a blast being creative in using them up.
Tonight....cut up and cooked 4 tomatoes....making a salsa to eat with some gourmet crackers.

I need some straw too, but it doesn’t have to be too soon, unless we get early and lower than usual freezing.
I really like wrapping the tomatoes in newspaper to have fresh maters for quite a while. However, I only have a couple of cherry tomatoes this year.
Hubby planted a lot, but never staked them, and they really didn’t do very well.
I let them get about 8 feet and then they had to be folded down.
The taste is awesome. Grew from seed.

Have 3 watermelons ready to pick. Two more cantaloupe are almost ready. The one last week was Perfect!!
As the tomatoes got to be monsters, I tied the tops of the steel stakes criss crossing to support everything. It worked.
Wood stakes should be tossed. Wash down the steel stakes with clorox wipes or rubbing alcohol before you store them away.
I use some metal aluminum rods that I had on had as stakes.

Good for you! I did nothing with heirlooms - or any other tomatoes this year. I am glad though that I picked this year to be lazy as the weather would have been horrible for heirlooms here.
I do miss my fresh tomatoes and cucumbers very much. :(
Spearmint and Peppermint is still producing well

planted peach trees the deer decided they didnt need leaves so i'm hoping they come back in next year Got a Banana tree in a bucket yet to be planted but it looks good right in the bucket lol
Tonight is forecast to get down to 28F with snow. I have two tomatoes in containers that I have indoors in front of a west-facing window.
I like to put a whole bunch of it down to keep the weeds down and to me it just looks nice.
I’m starting to save the leaves I rake again but I quit making compost because we rent and it looks bad sometimes.
I wish I could get rid of the crabgrass that drowns out my asparagus plants. No matter how high I stack the straw it just keeps coming back.
I bet even a foot of wood chips(Back to Eden)wouldn’t keep it from coming up.
I’m excited because I can grow garlic now.
I saved seeds from the red onion bulbs I planted so I can start those in hmm-February or March?
Maybe I’ll actually be able to grow decent onions.
Fresh, home grown garlic sure was nice.
I wish I could grow decent bell peppers.
I also saved seeds from the San Marzano tomato plants but I will need to set up a decent irrigation system and make sure they are well watered and fed. I read that that particular tomato is extremely prone to blossom end rot. It’s never been an issue until I got San Marzanos and I was just plagued with BER.
I almost yanked the darn things out of there I was so disgusted.
I made more soap today and there is a meat sale at my local grocer so I’ll have to get down there when the eagle screams and fire up the canner.
I should really can some more pinto beans and maybe some chili....
