I am sure there is some correlation, but the IQ test does not measure common sense. But, you are right that IQ by nation statistics show that Africa is very low, the middle east is very low with the exception of Israel, Mexico to Argentina is generally low. These are averages and do not mean someone cannot come out on the top end of the Bell Curve.
I think that high IQ with high common sense (which I don’t know of a test for) combine for success.
So do the studies incorporated in “The Bell Curve.” No one claims there are not exceptions to the rule or that other factors affect success in life.
Everything else being equal those with higher IQs are more successful. And you should note that Whites do not have the highest IQs (except for Jews who score highest of all) but East Asians have the top scores.
