“Actually, it was very somber and serious, and it dealt with a most unmentionable topic...the horrible abuse of prescription abuse of pain meds.”
Yeah... when I settle in at night and decide to get a little entertainment, that’s just what I wanna see, a bunch of preachy crap.
GMTA
:D
Agreed. That was the first time I saw many of the actors in that film.
The story line, in a crude attempt to be “relevant”, simply came off as - mean.
The whole basis for Roseanne “dying” was supposedly an opioid overdose, and while cleaning out the effects, a prescription bottle with somebody else’s name was found. Dan posted the name and the accusation of responsibility on a sign affixed to the door of his work truck, and pretty much ruined the woman’s name in the town. In a pitiful scene near the end of the episode, she came to appeal to Dan to cease and desist, but Dan remained adamant. Then one of the daughters came out with ANOTHER stash of opioids, which was probably the one that was the source of the overdose. There was just no possibility of taking it back at that point.
Pretty dark story, no matter how they may dance around it in future episodes (if any ever get aired).
“If Roseanne were smart she would have released something like please everyone watch the show and support my friends.”
Whut?
I agree - he and Spader were brilliant together.
Agreed! ‘Raising Arizona’ is in my Top Ten. OK, Top 20. But still, it’s in there!
Actually, ‘Blood Simple’ was the Coen Brothers first film. They weren’t credited as Directors, but I don’t know why. Chilling and really dark. But, also funny, LOL! You can see a little of ‘Fargo’ in there from the git-go. Well worth a look! ;)

Sounds like a fun show.
I’ve been watching John Goodman in Black Earth Rising. He is great!

The scene where he emerges from the mud is classic.
“going to see Bruce Springsteen and only the Silver Bullet Band shows up.”
The E Street Band.
Someone from New Jersey would have a heartattack.
Myself, who hates every aspect of New Jersey, laughed and imagined how great that show would actually be.
It was like watching a train wreck, horribly bad and I kept wondering if would get worse.
IMO it absolutely stunk. I would never turn it on again.
Charles Laughton used to read from the dictionary when talking to college classes.
Must not have been alive for Turn On.
Look that one up.
I’ve never heard of it. I’ll have to take a look.
I watched some Barnaby Jones and Mannix reruns last night on Youtube.
Where I live the pharmacists behave as if everyone is addicted to opioids or a potential addict. Showing my i.d. and signing for a prescription at the doctor’s office and then doing it again at the pharmacy seems a little like overkill. Maybe in other regions things are more loosey-goosey.
As for the Roseanne show, I thought the way they killed her off as an addict was to make the Roseanne character illegitimate in her support of Trump. Like only a deplorable druggie would vote for Trump because she’s not in her right mind.
I don’t mean to be cruel here, but you are saying that you did not have enough common sense to realize this? And you did not realize this UNTIL you watched The Conners
Honestly, I don’t mean to single you out for ridicule, but this is EXACTLY where our problems lay. People who cannot “get it” until someone tells them what, where, when and why.
You are welcome to attack me if need be. I just DO NOT UNDERSTAND
“I KNOW BUT HONEY...”
Lol. Wasn't that the one that was cancelled by the network halfway through its first - and only - airing?
