I would defer to the families but, I’m sure they will want to investigate what went wrong. Sad story.

I agree that an investigation is in order. I was merely referring to any attempt to recover the remains.

I was on leave from Submarine School when the Thresher was lost. My mother tried to prevent me from returning to the Navy. She was unsuccessful. ;-)
A man who sat across from me in Submarine School reported straight from school to the Thresher without taking his two week leave. He was lost with the Thresher. ;-(
My first recruiter in High School was an Old Salt Navy Sailor. He had great stories and I almost went to Submarine School. I eventually went Army but picked the other risky MOS in Airborne.
Two weeks before Trump is due there.

The ARA San Juan submarine was located in the Atlantic Ocean, the officials said, crushing the last hopes for relatives of the 44 crew members.
With the USS Scorpion, it's speculated that torpedo maintenance testing set off the motor on a torpedo. It was loaded and ejected, but it came back and hit the bow.
When the remains were found, the aft sections had telescoped forward from the pressure.
Looks like the USS Nautilus.
