I doubt that it was a “slingshot” maneuver. Any object passing the sun will be attracted, and gain kinetic energy as it falls towards the sun, and give it back on the way out. Whether or not it gains angular momentum depends on the object’s trajectory. It is about as likely to gain as to lose kinetic energy.

Actually some entity predator would not do something like that as it would reveal their existence. Better fling a “seed” in the preys direction which when arrives blossoms into a “2-D” weapon that reduces the target system to 2-dimensions forever sealing them off from the 3-D universe and making backtracking impossible.
