The manager sounds reasonable to me. He probably knows who the “dine & dash” lowlifes are, and he’s right not to serve food until they pre-pay.

This past summer, daughter was playing All Stars in softball. It is customary for our league to pay for one meal/day during tournaments for the All Star teams and their coaches. This one family would show up where the girls were eating their meals, and they would claim to be with the team. They would then leave before the bill was paid, expecting the league to cover their tab as well. I guess they had done this in the past, and the coaches were watching to see if they pulled their trickeroo again. Sure enough, they got up to leave when it looked like most of the girls were done. But one of our Mamas informed the waitress (black female) of what they were doing, and she stopped them and handed them their check. They did not show up for another after game meal after that. They were/are the grandparents of two of the girls on the team. The grandfather is a Korean War veteran, and he wears his hat everywhere he goes. I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t have a problem with him taking whatever folks are willing to give him. But they had done this scam previously with their extended family in attendance at a seafood restaurant. Their tab was over $300 that time, and the other parents ended up paying for that. I grew up in Mississippi and have lived all over the country and been around folks of various ethnicities. Until I saw these folks in action this summer, I had never seen someone brazenly attempt to steal a meal this way. But it must be common in the area to brazenly steal food, clothes, electronics, whatever. The clerks in the department stores have been telling us that it is terrible. BLACK cashiers are telling us these things about black customers.
Another thing I noticed during softball season this past Spring is that the black adults attending games purchase items at the concession stands, and then they leave their trash on the bleachers EVERY SINGLE GAME. Why don’t they throw their trash away? I don’t get it.
I’d find a money grubbing lawyer, redundant I know, give him the entire winnings and sue them for all they have.

I ate at that place once. Never again in 15 years.

Most every fast food place has you pay before you get your food, at the drive-thru, especially.
I’ve never been to “Chipotle”, and doubt that I’ll ever go, but I don’t see anything wrong with having the customer pay before eating...especially in this day and time.
Agreed. You pay at the end of the line at the register. I guess that they might grab the food and run.
