I was in the check out line at Food Lion and in front of me was a squat Latino woman with 4 kids hanging off a cart chock full with items. After her items were tallied the bill was $165. She handed the cashier a coupon. The Cashier looked at it and said it was not anything honored by the store, while handing it back. The woman just handed her the coupon again, so the cashier called the manager. He tried to talk to the Latino but she just shrugged and, speaking no English, kept handing him the coupon again. Finally, the manager told the cashier, just let her take the food and go.

Same here. I’ve been to 3 Chipotle’s (even after the health scare) and they ALL operate as fast foods-—PAY FIRST. And all of them were close to Film and TV studios..

At Every Chipotle I go to, you order your food, they build it while you watch, you PAY at the register, and they then hand you your food.

I don’t remember ever having my hands on my food before I paid.

I presume that what he is actually saying is that he wants them to pay before they start BUILDING their food; I can imagine people scamming the place by having them build a whole order, and then coming up a dollar short. The cashier can either throw the food away, or accept the discount payment.

Just any Chipotle? Every fast food joint I go into - from MacDonalds to Taco Bell to whatever - I pay when I order. This doesn’t pass the smell test.

Which makes this story rather weird. Unless they were ordering and then not paying and leaving the food.

That kind of breakage can make the manager look bad and they get pressured by corporate to lower the amount of loss.
