Tua is playing on a team that might be a pretty good start at an NFL expansion team on BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL

People need to stop with this comparison. It's ridiculous. I love me some Crimson Tide, but they'd be no match for ANY professional team. It's not even apples to apples.

Now, if you want to talk about comparisons, Canadian Pro Ball might be a better way to go. *Snicker*

Please re-read carefully, emphasizing both context and comprehension.

I said "might be a pretty good start at an NFL expansion team".

When considered in context of the qualitative difference between Tua's defense and Kyler's defense, I believe my evaluation is not that much of an exaggeration at all, because there is unfortunately that much difference in the two.

Of course the converse is also arguably true; to paraphrase what Barry Switzer once said about one of the top High School programs in Oklahoma at the time, "I'm not sure we could beat Booker T..."

...and I stand by my position that Kyler Murray is the best player in College Football this season.

Don't be so hard on the possibility of college players beating NFL players. There used to be a College All-Star game at the beginning of the season featuring the defending NFL champions against a bunch of college all-stars. The college all stars won several times and were competitive most of the time. In 1963, they defeated Vince Lombardi's Packers 20-17.

"Except, Kyler Murray is the best player in College Football this season. "

Tua won the National College Football Championship before he ever started a college football game.

Statistics:

Tua Tagovailoa

Kyler Murray

Tua Tagovailoa Supplants AJ McCarron; Breaks Single-Season TD Record

AJ McCarron won two national championships as quarterback for Alabama.

Booker T. Washington a North Tulsa team. They were a great team in the late 60s and early 70s. No one could touch them.
I can’t remember the guy’s name, but he was a running back who went to Stanford. I saw him in the North/South game in I believe 1971 and he was really playing the game on a whole other level than the rest.

OU has had some real luck lately in getting quarterbacks who were disappointed in their original Universities.

Kyler's broken a few records too.

Like I said, I don't mean to take anything away from Tua. He's probably gonna win it and that's fine... Kyler has 4.7 million reasons to be a good sport about it.

My vote goes to Kyler anyway.

what if Ohio beats Michigan.... where do Ohio go

If Ohio St. beats Michigan they end up somewhere around 9 or 8. Ohio St. is not a top 5 team. They have barely beat bad Big Ten teams. And they have no good beat to recommend them. Penn St. Ohio St. and Michigan seam to get credit for beating each other. The rest of the Big Ten has four or more losses. So a win against Michigan does more to knock out Michigan than it does to add Ohio St. to the bowl playoff picture.

The record when the game ended in 1976 was NFL 31 wins, All Stars 9 wins, and two ties.

Everyone still talks about 2012 ND team that got schlonged in the title game. The perception of being overrated still lingers from that.

You can say they were overrated but they beat these teams:
#4 Michigan St.
#18 Michigan
Miami
#17 Stanford
#8 Oklahoma
USC

So with 4 top 25 wins and Alabama already beating many SEC contenders, ND who was ranked number one, really had to play #2 Alabama. Number 3 was Georgia. And Alabama had just beaten Georgia in the SEC championship game.

“The SEC is asumed to be all strong”

You cannot assume something when it is factual.

The SEC this year is not that strong outside of Bama. And you can’t say that #8 LSU with two losses is close. They got shut out by Alabama 29-0. And that same LSU team beat Georgia. There are only four teams in the SEC with fewer than four losses. After Bama destroys Georgia in the SEC Championship, this will all be clear.

Last year Auburn beat both Alabama and Georgia then lost to undefeated FCU. So who is to say that FCU wouldn’t beat most of the SEC.

OK, so where would you rank LSU? and who would you put in front of them besides the ones who currently are?

I never knew that. Thank you, but that was a long time ago before my time. Bama is good, but they aren’t an All-Star team. The NFL is a completely different animal than back in the early 60’s too. The only thing that would be accomplished is a bunch of much younger guys getting schooled and quite likely hurt. The speed of the NFL is incomparable overall to college teams. But I stand by Bama playing a Canadian pro team. THAT might be interesting.

I am simply pointing out that the SEC has earned the respect thrown their way. I still remember when people were screaming for an Ohio State-Michigan national championship game, because these two teams were so much better than the rest of college football, then having a one-loss Florida team absolutely destroy an undefeated Ohio State team. The SEC then went on to win the BCS championship game for seven consecutive years. This cannot be discounted when dishing out respect for how strong a conference is. It might not be as strong from year to year but from top to bottom, there are usually no pushovers and to compete in this league requires a very strong football program. UCF beat Auburn last year. Let them go on after that to play LSU, Texas A&M, Georgia, Mississippi State, and Alabama in the same season and see how undefeated they are. Competition makes a huge difference.

True. The intangibles are hard to reconcile sometimes. One also needs to remember that many SEC rivalries are nearly 100 years old. Heart plays a big component in these games. For instance, Auburn or Tennessee might suck, but Bama must take them very seriously.
