***Are these islands actually being slowly flooded by the reputedly rising seas?***

Years ago, in school, we were taught that the atolls formed when a volcano erupting and forming an island. Then the coral reefs formed around it, and THE ISLAND SINKING BACK INTO THE SEA, leaving only the coral reefs.

So now they are worried about the islands doing what we were taught the islands would do, except now it is blamed on glo-bull warming?

Sea levels can rise—they certainly have done so in the past. And land masses can subside. But sea level is sea level. If the oceans are rising they should be rising everywhere, not just some poor island nations in the Pacific.

There is a public right of way in England called “The Broomway”. Google it. It has been in use for over 600 years. Twice day it is covered by a fast moving high tide. Over the centuries many have drowned when the tide has caught them or they have wandered off of the path into deeper water. If the oceans have been rising over the last 100 years or so, the Broomway would no longer be usable.

Same here! I had dry land in the Rocky Mountains but sold it, as by now, it was supposed to be under a mile of ice. It is still dry and beautiful and owned by someone else!

Land masses move when tectonic plates shift. This is going on continuously. We are all surfing on the ball of molten magma.

Like most pacific islands, they’re going to get sucked down into the Mariana trench anyway.

Any study of “height” without consideration of plate tectonics and continental uplift is foolhardy.

The U.N. claimed at the time “sea level is rising in the Pacific around the Marshall’s at a much higher rate than elsewhere in the world,” according to BBC. The Marshall Islands say 12 milimeters of sea level rise per year between 1993 and 2009 while the rest of the world only saw 3.2 millimeters per year.

that 3.2 mm translates to about 1/8 inch. There is no way one can measure a 1/8 inch difference on an ocean subject to wind and tidal forces.

I read that a guy had an old family photo showing a gnarled tree a few feet from the beach in either Marshall Islands or Vanuatu.

He went looking for the tree and found it, approximately at the same distance from the water.

Excited, he came back to the hotel and talked about it. In the hotel there was a professor of something, but a believer of the global warming cult.

He went back the following day with friends to take pictures, but the tree had bee uprooted, gone. Later he found out the professor nutcase ripped off the small tree because it clashed with his world view.

Sickening.

Sea level hasn’t changed. Been putting my fishing boat in the same cove for 44 years. High tide comes up to the same point on the rocks the same is it did then. Low tide the same too. Spring tides, neep tides always stop at the same places they always did.

What a crock of Marxist cultism this GoreBull Worming is. Now due to unusually light sunspot activity we are in for some cold nasty winters.

Dearest Al. Pollution does NOT affect the Sun.

But what is the truth? Are these islands actually being slowly flooded by the reputedly rising seas? Or is this just more predictive alarmism?

It's predictive alarmism... the islands are only a few inches above sea level so if anything was happening we would know.

Just more liberal BS...

I’ll tell you a stark choice. Wearing the same underwear two days in a row because you didn’t do your laundry or going with no underwear the second day!!!

I do wear my underwear two days in a row. I just turn them inside out the second day. Then I wash them on the third day and put on clean ones.

The fallacy of composition is comparing the volume of ice to the volume of the sea. When ice melts, its volume shrinks, so the actual volume of water available to increase the ocean volume and share with the air doesn’t seem to add up, given the small area the ice in the Arctic and Antarctic occupy on the earth.
