I forgot to add. I have two rescue dogs. They are most loyal and good pets. Their are many good dogs at the pound. However, there are many that are not good dogs. One must be very careful when selecting. The best rescue dogs are those that had a good home once. That is all they want and will transfer their former affection to their past owner to you in just a few days. They just want a good home with an owner that will care for them and love them.
My last rescue dog was at my home for only a couple of days when he escaped from my poor fencing, since replaced. He ran around the neighborhood for a few hours. At sunset he was sitting on my front porch asking to came back inside. He knew a good deal when he saw it.
Cost of rescue dog was 25 dollars. Cost of a good fence to give them ample room about 5000 dollars, I have a lot of land. It was a good deal. My dogs would lay down their life for my family. It is good to know they are home when I am not, I know my wife is safe.
This is how to end the survival of the dog and cat species.
Yeah, my bro took in a rescue that lunged suddenly and attacked a home worker. Thank goodness it was a surface scratch and she didnt sue. Could have been MUCH MUCH WORSE. Got rid of the dog that day. It is far too risky to get a rescue dog as far as I am concerned.

Someone got rid of the dog for some reason, usually bad behaviors like violence and barking.
We we were puppy looking, all the mid sized and up dogs at the city shelter were pit bulls. Got a dog elsewhere.
They’re doing it to cat breeders, too. My mother bred Persian cats for many years. If people want a particular breed - dog, cat or rabbit - they’ll have to go out of state to find it.
And all those breeders are going to have to find a new state or go out of business.
Is there a politician in that state that understands what FREEDOM is?!
Have to agree with baynative. I have had great luck with rescue dogs. My purebred westie is a pain in the butt (just not nice to other people or dogs and yes she was socialized all her life) and other ‘purebred’ dogs I’ve had have seemed to need more vet visits, it seems breeders are breeding less hearty dogs than the mixed breeds. I’ve wonder if that’s part of the designer breeds like labradoodle, peekapoo, whatever else kinds there are, that maybe the purebreds of yore have just been overbred and are not hearty.
Having said that, I think the law is stupid.
Craigslist will tell you they don't allow selling of animals. But they do allow people to charge a "rehoming fee" ... which is any amount the seller chooses.
Soon California will be the first state to outlaw 2-ply toilet tissue and the first state to outlaw salt shakers that have more than three tiny holes and the first state to outlaw the sale of more than one strip of bacon per customer at any sit-down restaurant at any given meal. Because California cares.
Anybody want a beaten Pit bull?...
I see a black market for more desirable dog breeds. Don’t leave you puppy in the yard. He’ll be a goner
I loved the euphemisms on the dogs’ cages: “Very vocal” (Won’t shut up)...”Very active” (Dangerous dog)...
There are responsible breeders. This will put them out of business. I've always had rescues. They often come with problems, physical and mental, that the rescuer doesn't fully know. They're wonderful and loyal on the whole, but need to know you love them so they'll trust you if they've lived on the street for awhile. Will people have to certify that a dog they acquired is a rescue? Does that mean the state will control who can have a dog, and what is appropriate for them? (there's already some of that going on with shelters)
It seems that putting an end to puppy mills and storefront pet stores that sell dogs would be a better way to address the problem.
Calif?.................????
Maybe the Russians will still take it???
TRUMP.45! Could Put in a good word~

As most of the posts indicate; rescued dogs are overwhelmingly pitbulls. A store selling dogs and cats is such a terrible idea. To buy a registered breed or the now popular small hybrids is best accomplished through reputable breeders - not puppy mills.
Was checking for a rough coat Irish Jack terrier and the prices for different pure breeds ranged from $600 to $5,000 per pup.
California forgot to impose a waiting period and a mandatory background check on anyone buying a pet.
They also need to regulate how many pets you can buy per month, make sure no one buys a Dobie-O-Matic with high capacity magazines, and they also need to ban those damned Assault Yorkies because NO ONE NEEDS an Assault Yorkie!
Oh, and they need to ban scary Black Labrador Retrievers!!!
Ferrets are illegal in California, you can’t buy them out here, but you can take the ones you buy in other states to the vet.
