[Vanity] I'm Done...The "Orville" has Jumped the Shark...for me.
Me ^ | 1/4/2018 | The Dread Pirate Roberts

Posted on 01/04/2019 7:30:14 PM PST by Bloody Sam Roberts

I have had it. I just watched the latest episode of "The Orville".

But this latest episode, "Primal Urges" pissed me off to NO end.

Let's forget the overall subject of "gay" porn addiction by a completely non-human species, and the total delve into how that affected the ship and crew...and the clear homosexual overtones.

I cannot let pass the behavior of the sudo-Klingon character of Bortis who stood by and watched a woman say goodbye to her family...husband and son...of which there was a good 30-60 second scene...and our Uber Macho "hero" did NOTHING to save her.

His behavior...given his mission to save as many people as possible from a planet soon to be destroyed by an exploding star...was simply unconscionable. He should have grabbed her and pushed her onto the shuttle with her family and closed the door. A sacrifice? Possibly. But...if necessary...YES.

Yet he chose to save his own sorry ass. Not good.

Maybe I'm wrong. But I would not have hesitated to push her onto the shuttle and then close the doors. That was the mission. Save as many people as possible.

Yes...I know this is fiction and supposed comedy but really? Why would such a feel good, heroic moment be overlooked? Except...by those who JUST DON'T GET IT.

The writers of this show have exposed themselves to be far less than worthy of my viewership. I'm done with this type of BS.

I cannot believe...and I hope...that I am not the only one who noticed this and whose hackles rose while watching this.

Am I too old school? Am I a dinosaur? Are there no others who would have done...oh...I dunno...the RIGHT thing?

I'm sorry. But sometimes...I get pissed.

Thanks. I’ve thought about watching, now I don’t have to bother. I happened to be channel surfing one day and saw a few seconds of Modern Family and almost wretched. No thanks. And have you noticed the trend of homosexual/lesbian portrayals in commercials? Don’t care for it at all.

B5 is available free now on Amazon Prime.
Zathras did the entire series recently.
Zathras however was too busy fixing the Great Machine to watch.

LOL!

“No-one ever listens to Zathras. Quite mad, they say. It is good that Zathras does not mind. He’s even grown to like it. Oh yes.”

Most disturbing for me was the humanistic propaganda, assuming anything but evolutionary atheism as culturally created BS. The pan-sexual stuff just made me sad for our culture.

Picard would have saved them all and then have had a long philosophical discussion with one of them.

Ewwww gross! You mean that's what was about to happen!? I turned it off when the creature was walking down the hallway and told his mate he had to work late.

I need to keep listening to my inner sense of foreboding.

I fast forwarded through most of it. The first season was actually pretty good considering what I was expecting. This thing with Gay aliens was rude and unnecessary.

I call it lazy writing. It’s just PC/SJW nonsense not fit for public consumption IMHO. Just garbage.

Babylon 5 was great. Great character driven show. Love Claudia Christian. It is weird though that some of those actors are now deceased.

If you love Claudia Christian rent a copy of Arena. It also two actors that had roles on ST DS9 in it.

Agree 100%! A leftist mind is a teenaged mind. I am fully convinced that something in their brains stopped developing in the teen years.
There is no possible way people can be that ignorant and not have a stunted mental condition.

Didn’t like the first episode and what few seconds I watched of a few others send me packing.

I don’t like “campiness” unless it is a secondary element for humor’s sake, like “Trouble With Tribbles”, so I’ll go back to “ST:Deep Space Nine” and ST:TNG for entertainment and “thought”.

I would recommend The Expanse.

Just dialed it up on Amazon Prime. Don’t often see such high production values in a series. Game on. Thanks for directing me to it.

Thank you for your post. I had the first season on hold at the library, but now I’m going to cancel the request....

I was doing something on my computer near the end of the last football game on fox last weekend and The Orrville started. I wasn’t paying much attention, but did notice the dialogue had nothing to do with much. After 10 minutes, I looked up and realized that it was a scifi tv show... I was expecting some mini series drama from the boring conversations my ears were picking up on... I changed the channel.

Here is a quote from Babylon 5 that I liked so much I wrote it down:

Babylon 5 – Season 4 – Episode 19.
Guard at Sheridan’s cell (6 October 1997):

“I don’t watch TV. It is a cultural wasteland filled with inappropriate metaphors and an unrealistic portrayal of life created by the liberal media elite.”

It jumped the shark for me in the first 20 minutes of the first episode.

The closest reference for comparison that I have to your episode is one from The Next Generation where Worf, who had been established by that point in the series that anyone could kick his azz, beat up a “gay” security guard on some planet.

Overall, The Next Generation was a bitter disappointment after having all but memorized every original Star Trek episode. From that annoying "empath" what's-her-name, who embodied the most annoying qualities of every therapist who follows up every patient's statement with "Okay, now tell me how you feel about that" to that extraordinarily wimpy captain whose manliness was totally eclipsed by that of Captain Janeway of Voyager, TNG came across as an utterly unbelievable deluge of effete socialists' unworkable pipe dreams.

I turned it off early when the two gay male klingons kissed.

Never will watch again.

So sick of this crap!!!!

Also turned off Blacklist when the evil assasin guy was revealed to be a Nationalist, out to kill globalists. Like that’s a bad thing.

Brainwashing the audience, both shows. Marxists (Fabian Socialists) have indeed taken over the media, all aspects.
