Whether you're a history buff or just want a break from the present, there's a fascinating podcast out there for you.
They say that those who fail to study history are doomed to repeat itor maybe they're just missing out on some really great stories. These 11 podcasts take a look at the weird, complex, fascinating people and events that have shaped the world in ways big and small.

1: Dan Carlin Hardcore History. This is by far the best one out there. Carlin is a great narrator and he is big on using primary sources to be in the shoes of people who experienced the events.
2: Mike Duncan Revolutions: Mr. Duncan made a name for himself with his "History of Rome" podcast. He moved on to Revolutions starting with the English Civil War. He has covered the American, French, Haitian, 1848, and now Mexican revolutions.
3: In Our Time: A podcast of a BBC Radio show. Covers topics in the humanities and sciences.
One not listed but I enjoy is "History on Fire" hosted by professor Daniele Bolelli; yes he has an Italian accent. He has some quirky interests covering subjects from Medieval Japan and the Native American experience.
Love all the podcasts that you listed. I also like “Our Fake History”, “Emperors of Rome”, “How it Began”, “Context”, and “The History of Ancient Greece”.
Thanks for the recommendations.
Mark for later. Thanks for the post.
The History of the Great War, The Art of Manliness, The Fall of Rome, Jordan Peterson, Joe Rogan, Emperors of Rome
History of byzantium and history of the crusades are very good.
It has carried me across many a long drive across the country, and is well researched and well presented.
Thanks!
Thanks...BFL.

Sound interesting.
From the Top Ten list, In Our Time and Revolutions are great. I’ve gotten tired of Dan Carlin, though, and Malcolm Gladwell is simply tired.
But I can’t wait to listen in to “The History of Southeast Asia” by Berosus. I’ve enjoyed the very limited but very interesting “A History of Indonesia” by Anthony Frisina.
Also on my list:
- History of English Podcast (great!!)
- History Extra Podcast
- Tides of History
- The Explorers Podcast (excellent!)
- Ancient World Podcast
- The Podcast History of the World (very short episodes and enjoyable for it)
- John Batchelor Show (lots of history)
I’ve consumed these and many others, and I completely respect those who have taken the time to produce them, so difficult!
Bkmk history podcasts
Texas Booster and Nicollo, thank you for your kind words. I was inspired to become a history podcaster three years ago, when I saw history podcasts popping up all over the Internet, like mushrooms on a wet lawn. This list confirms it; I have listened to quite a few podcasts, but the only ones on the list I had heard of previously were Hardcore history and Revolutions.
Anyway, The History of Southeast Asia podcast is hosted at https://www.blubrry.com/hoseasia/ . You can also catch it on iTunes, Stitcher, and several other websites and apps that offer podcasts. The latest episode went up last Tuesday, where I gave an introduction to the Cold War era (1945-1990).
Thanks Berosus for the ping, thanks C19fan for posting the topic, and thanks texas booster and nicollo for the additional 'fo. This is an excellent idea for the weekly Digest ping as well, just think of it as Friday evening and it'll be fine. ;^)

Magnificent, Berosus, what an accomplishment!
I just subscribed via Grover Pro (which I like because it syncs across all my Windows devices). I’m not sure which service it uses, but I got it —
—59 episodes? Just wow. Can’t wait to devour it all Starting w/ no. 1 right now.
Don’t forget the introduction to the whole thing, what I call Episode 0.
