The sax man was Clarence Clemmons from Springsteen’s E-Street Band.

He passed away some years ago. Amazing musician, and fondly remembered.

Hal Blaine (and the “Wrecking Crew”) made a LOT of records and made a LOT of records GREAT.

I’m not a Springfield fan although I do like his early albums before he became “Bruce”.

In an interview, he said he always liked the raw sax sound of the Dave Clark Five and wanted THAT sax sound in his band.

Loved Ronnie, her new Ronettes and the Big Sax Man. Spectacular video! Thanks!

Sonny also co-wrote “Needles & Pins” that became a hit for The Searchers.

This version, from two years earlier, is much better.

In 1983, I saw Ronnie at a concert at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif. which featured featuring many artists who had once worked with Phil Spector. Afterwards, it was rumored that Spector himself was somewhere in the audience. Ronnie did a good performance, but Martha Reeves of Martha & thre Vandellas stole the show. Her singing inspired about half the audience to get up and dance in the aisles.

I do like Jackie de Shannon’s version and she was a hugely underrated singer/songwriter.

That said...I still prefer the Searchers’ version with their “jangly” guitar sound.

As an aside, I’m blessed to have a “dry” version burned direct from the studio master tapes by a friend who remastered their hits.

The Heartbreakers, with Ronnie Bennett (later Spector) were the forerunner of the Ronettes,

Phil Spector himself sings on this hit tune, which he wrote.

Wonderful, Lovable You--The Teddy Bears (1959)

Sadly, Phil Spector "re-produced" the Beatles "Let It Be" album...and it was a disaster.

Later, his "way-over-the-top" production was erased and "Let It Be" was re-released as "Let It Be Naked"...and a MUCH better album. The naked version of "The Long & Winding Road" is now quite spectacular!

He’s credited with inventing the “Wall of Sound”. Definitely a game-changer in the music industry.

"He Hit Me" was released as a single on Spector's Philles label but was censored in a number of markets, which is probably why it didn't chart. Nonetheless, my local record shop had a copy. "Please Hurt Me" was released on an LP but I don't think it was ever released as a single.

Didn’t know there was a “naked” version out there. I’ll have to check it out.

Wow, never heard that before. I can see why it didn’t chart.

Her duet with BW was awful; her voice was on extended vacation.

Ronnie can be heard in the chorus of Eddy Money’s “Take Me Home Tonight.”
